This dream is probably whatagain's fault with his cat stories. I was visiting my brother and sister-in-law and they wanted to get rid of some of their multitude of cats. In real life, the last time I was there, they had 3 cats, but in the dream they had far more. Anyway, I suddenly had five cats, but they were not nice cats at all. They were the kind of cats who attack your legs and arms and bite and scratch you just because they think you looked at them wrong. So I was fending off one or two of them at a time, but my main worry was getting to the store as quickly as possible to buy food and litter for them. My main feeling in the dream was that I probably had made a mistake in accepting these cats.

I keep ending up in sleazy motels for some reason (but not to engage in any sleazy activity). I am always travelling with one or two other people and we just end up in the only place that appears to be available. They are never very clean. Last night's dream motel had chick peas scattered all over the carpet and in the bathroom. I spent most of the dream trying to pick them up so that I would not be charged an extra cleaning fee.

I have no idea what I dreamt about, but it is the third night I have gone without my tablet before dinner - as a trial run to find out why I talk and move so much in my sleep…..but last night I cried out for help several times. Last week I had to be restrained from clobbering Mr.Tod whilst in a dreadful nightmare. Thought it may be the pills which do have a warning, but my doctor still gives me a script to carry on taking them. I give up.

Get a second opinion, preferably from a doctor who specializes in sleep disorders. Just think how Mr Tod will feel being able to get a good night's sleep!

On the news tonight they said that two thirds of all dreams are negative because the night is when we process bad things that have happened during the day. They did not explain why the theme of most of these dreams is different from what actually annoyed us. I doubt that anybody knows.
Recently, I have been in a new phase of dreams of being back at work. I am supposed to have retired, but I sort of forgot and went to the office anyway. Nobody complains because there are things to do, but even though I have no intention of returning again, I am back the next day. This doesn't really worry me since I know that I will be paid, but I end up being annoyed because I know that I not supposed to still be working.

I was retired for nearly 10 years before the work dreams stopped. I also found that Sunday nights the playing of a TV show theme made me tense and dreading the week ahead. Even after a year away from work the theme still made me tense.

I don’t recall having many work dreams, thank goodness. Last night I dreamt I was traveling again. Though, on waking, I thought I’d been in a South American country like Bolivia or Argentina (places I’ve never been), I now realize it had to be Milan because I recognized the old style trams. In my dream, I was trying to figure out the best way to purchase tram tickets.

I am in a new phase of extreme and vivid dreams, but I forget them just as fast as the boring ones. The only one that has left a trace in my memory was killing Nicolas Sarkozy with a lead pipe and tossing him off a bridge. This was just a crime of convenience since I have nothing against him now that he is retired from politics. One thing that surprised me was that I did this during the day with plenty of witnesses. I expected to be arrested quickly, but nobody ever came after me.

The extreme and vivid dreams continue, but recently there has been a new twist. While in my work dreams, I was often dreaming about having retired but continuing to show up at the office because my presence was "needed," I have now switched to showing up in spite of the fact that I have been forgotten. They are not against my presence but I find myself thinking "they're going to be surprised when I show up for work all next week." Sick! I was so happy never to set foot there again.

I have stopped dreaming out loud since avoiding certain prescribed medication. I don't think the manufacturers are aware that when taken for years and years (they warn you not to exceed a certain period) that it has this effect. What do you do when your doctor keeps writing another script and tells you to carry on. Even the pharmacist didn't seemed bothered. Yes I still dream everytime I sleep but no more nightmares.

My dreams have become much more pleasant recently, or at least with fewer crises. And yet absolutely nothing has changed in my waking life.
The dreams still make no sense, and I forget 99% of what happened within 30 minutes of waking (sometimes 100%), but I know that they remain wild and improbable. I know that I was in Burma last night, apparently on holiday. There was a village sitting right on the edge of the water, and I mean with just a plank or two on the ground to walk on in front of the places. They caused little splashes as you stepped on them, and the doorways were only about 3 cm above the water level. Everybody found this totally normal (including me).
A little later, I was at a picnic in a beach area (still in Burma), blankets in some places and picnic tables in others. But one interesting detail was that it was a covid picnic (perhaps my very first covid dream) -- everybody was sitting spaced at a safe distance.

I dream every night, like most people, but contrary to many, I remember everything for about 15 minutes after waking up. Then it is gone forever. For maybe two or three months a number of years ago, I kept a notebook next to my bed and wrote every possible detail of what I was dreaming every time I woke up. But there were so many details (usually nonsensical of course) that I had to stop because I wasn't getting enough sleep. Now that I am not working anymore, maybe I should think about doing it again because it was really pretty interesting (and wacky, obviously). Now I can catch up on my sleep anytime I feel like it.
What is interesting is which dreams stick in one's mind rather than immediately disappearing. This week, one dream fits that category.
I dreamed that there was conflict in the world (what a surprise!) which was divided between red and orange. The two groups were allowed to be out and about on alternate days while showing their colours. But these were not extreme colours -- it was sufficent to just wear a red t-shirt or an orange scarf, sometimes even just an arm band as identification. The rest of the clothing in the dream was just dull and basically colourless to make the two colours stand out. The two groups apparently had alternate days for being dominant, but when the red group was in charge of the day, it was accepted that the orange group could drive around as long as they never left their vehicle.
What makes the dream ridiculous is that no fight (or massacre?) ever broke out, but there was a sense of foreboding at all times. It was an interesting situation for me to observe (I was in neither camp), but it seemed to be completely pointless.
Like my life, I suppose.

A couple of nights ago I dreamt I was a backing singer to Mick Jagger (I actually have a decent singing voice). However the first song he sang was about bacon and none of us had a clue of what it was about. We never sang any other songs..,

According to a series of lectures run by Jungian dream professionals, dream analysis is much easier than most people realise.
The basis is... our sub-conscious is often trying to get a message to us. Not necessarily of great importance and often the s/c will use humour to get the message across.
The biggest mistake is when the dream is taken literally. The dream is the symbolic presentation of the situation clothed in symbols that have meaning for that dreamer only.
I have a cat, at the moment she is on her last legs and the vet has given her a month or so before she dies. So if I dream of a cat my s/c is representing a time of something being lost to me. LaGatta and Whatagain have cats...if they dream of them it will be a totally different message.
About the only constant is if you dream of a house or building it represents the person doing the dream. The lowest floor is your basic needs and the upper the more higher needs that requires your attention.
Our s/c is busy while we are dreaming, creating image and action to get the message through. It sometimes makes mistakes and uses puns if not too serious. (Is Mick [Jagger] an old ham?) When we did the "dream diary" we found the best way to crack the meaning was to ask "What does ...mean to you?" K2 has dreams that could be Cecil B de Mille blockbusters but it may be the same dream-information being given every time until he "gets" it.
I dreamt I was on a carousel. The man made it go faster and faster-I had to hang on tight. Later that week I was dreaming of washing clothes...the machine sped up, froth went everywhere some clothes were torn. See what happens when you don't pay attention? I was flat out at work and v. stressed. Nasty carousel tried to warn me, but it took a bit more drama to get the message.
Then you know you got it right when the dreamer saya"Ah-ha...that's it, that is just what i was feeling when you said it."
Mr Kerouac...every time I see your posts I think 'Different day, same dream' What language do you dream in?

I was absolutely appalled by my dream last night. I was getting ready for school -- I could have been anywhere from teenage to beyond, but I seemed to have my adult mind. Anyway, I suddenly remembered that now that it is spring and the time is fast approaching when everybody has to cut off their penis if they have one. (I don't know if females were subjected to any sort of similar ordeal.) Anyway, this was a universal yearly thing. The penis grows back pretty quickly, but you just have to man up and find your sharpest kitchen knife and do it over the edge of the bathtub. I had vague memories of the blood and the pain and was not at all enthusiastic about this tradition. I didn't have to do it today, but clearly it had to be done by the end of the week because there was some sort of deadline. Nobody else seemed concerned since it was such a normal part of life. From what I recall, the penis that grows back is not even bigger and better -- it's just the same one again. Well, I was a bit preoccupied going to school but it turned out that I was president of the student body (!) and everybody was counting on me for the upcoming exams. I was in charge of making sure that everybody at my level passed the exams in spite of the unmotivated teachers and the younger students who were doing absolutely nothing. Absolutely nobody talked about that other thing that needed to be done. I finally became so stressed that I woke up and heaved a sigh of relief that it was just a dream. I may be very lucky that I have never been a sonambulist.

I agree that dreams send messages from our subconscious to our conscious minds.
In my case they are often “cautionary tales”. For example there may be a flirtation with an attractive stranger, or an acquaintance who suddenly becomes very attentive and flattering, which in the dream leads to the beginnings of an illicit relationship.
When I wake from this kind of dream, my great relief at NOT having been unfaithful to Mr. Kimby is palpable and reinforces my commitment to not stray. My subconscious is very helpful in keeping my life on track.

Just do it while dreaming, K2, if you want it to grow back!
There are worse things than sitting to pee, though. (This results in a much cleaner WC, by the way!)

Does anyone else get up several times in the night to pee? Does anyone else also think dreaming is related to a full bladder? I'm asking because I am regularly woken from a dream with a desperate urge to urinate. Soon as I'm back in bed I fall asleep immediately and continue to dream - something totally different - until I have to get up again. Some nights its three times, some nights 6 or 7 times. What I can't understand is when I have a nightmare i/e. Talking , laughing or crying out aloud in my sleep, I have to be shaken awake to break free from the dream. I haven't fallen out of bed lately.

I normally don't need to pee at night, but sometimes I have dreams in which I really need to pee but I get absolutely no relief out of it when I do. Then I understand that I have to wake up and go for a real pee.

I was awake for what seemed like ages in the wee hours of this morning. I eventually fell back asleep and was dreaming when the alarm (which had been going for at least 60 seconds) finally penetrated my consciousness. I had been dreaming that I was standing in line for my second covid shot.
