Probably not worthy of its own thread, but I couldn't readily find a suitable existing one to fit it into. So then:
They were really good and I think they gave me the patience to find better strawberries and a perfect tomme de savoie I probably would have otherwise never found. Easily worth whatever I threw into their instrument case.

Yes, that is indeed a high quality street band. It is often amazing the music that you can encounter around the city, but obviously that goes for just about every big city in the world. If Paris has any advantage at all, it would be because whether or not they have an authorization, such events are nearly always allowed to continue, whereas in certain other places, the authorities might walk up and "apply the law."

Thanks. Police seem a little thin on Sundays here, just like everyone else so I doubt they'd be bothered. Sunday evenings--beautiful ones like tonight obviously more so--are a great time to stroll around. Most shops are closed and there is just a more relaxed, quieter vibe.
