Oh, thanks, Bixa. You had me worried for a minute until I realized you meant my discreet, topless photos, taken in 2014. I took a few very revealing photos this year, but have purposely not posted any. I would say that, yes, there was much more exuberance among the crowd this year since they weren't all feeling wet, cold, and bedraggled. It probably also made a difference that most of my 2015 photos were taken near the start of the parade, rather than near the end.

Do you think their makeup was running at the end?

Not those who were perfectly coifed and made up with the waterproof stuff.

How fun! You positioned yourself very well to capture these shots. I feel as if I were there. My favorites are the photos of the man with the enormous butterfly wings and your very last one of the jubilant young people.

Thanks, Nycgirl. I saw the guy with the butterfly wings again this year, too. Definitely my favorite parade subject.
I have a few more pictures I'll post when I can to get this thread wrapped up.

Very interesting to see these pictures. India has recently turned backward - with gay sex being criminalised in 2013- so I hope there will be some such parades and movements here. There was one a few days ago in Chennai, organised by the US Consulate.

In the good news department, I saw in today's paper that Mozambique inaugurated a new penal code yesterday, replacing the Portuguese colonial one from 1886. Homosexuality and abortion have been decriminalised.

Here are a few more photos as we get towards the end of the parade. As you can see from the small signs in the last few photos, there was a call for three minutes of silence in memory of those who have died from AIDS. At exactly 16:30, the whole area around me became completely silent and stayed that way for three minutes. Presumably, there was silence all up and down the whole parade route. It was really interesting that, at the end, a roar could be heard coming from the beginning of the parade and it moved towards us like a wave until the whole route was buzzing with crowd sounds once again.

And a very kind French gentleman, seeing me continuing to take photos of trash and the clean-up crew, rushed up to tell me that "the workers were not part of the parade." The parade was, in fact over.

"The workers are not part of the parade" Ah, the kind man doesn't get photojournalism. So glad that you do ~ killer pictures throughout. You even turned trash into photographic treasure. Really interesting participants, particularly the fathers & sons united against homophobia. I see that the French word for aids is the same as the Spanish. I'm probably branding myself as really ignorant here, but I was a little surprised to see aids once again tacitly referred to as a disease specifically identified with gay people. I remember the information campaigns aimed as educating people that aids could hit anyone. Whatever -- it was great to see how the parade mixed high spirits with some educational and even solemn messages.

I myself am wondering if there was a delegation of gay sanitation workers in the march.

Bixa, I'm sure both (hardcore Catholic) Ireland and the US were celebrated at all Pride parades. At London Pride, a marcher made a fake ISIS flag that had dildos and other sex toys instead of the original Arabic lettering, and CNN actually reported that ISIS had "infiltrated" the Pride march!

I LOVED the bit about the very efficient Paris sanitation workers! They are extraordinary.
Sanitation workers are as important in reducing disease vectors and other hazards as healthcare workers are. They don't get nearly enough recognition.
