Were the swallows alongside your home, Amboseli? Anyone know this type of odd little bird. It was about the size of a large magpie.

I did a image search on that bird htmb and do you know what the result was? Google said - "Best guess for this image: bird"
Yeah, right. I think I got that myself. Thanks a bunch.

What a wonderful capture! That's better than almost every bird book which is forced to show the male and female individually.

It's puffed itself up to warn off the competition. They're aggressive, competitive little creatures.

Lovely photos all , agree that is a Jay - I used to see them often at a previous home but rarely see them now. This bird has caused some controversy, is it natural or has it collided with paint; even questions about what bird it is . I had read about it making its home on Embudu and was pleased to find that it was still living on the island when I visited a few weeks ago.

Lovely photos, Lugg. One of the few bird facts that I know is that the color on flamingos is caused by what they eat. In fact, sometimes flamingos in zoos are paler than those in the wild because of that. It would be interesting to know where your bird was feeding & on what.

I'm sure there are very complicated laws of physics that would explain why the bird has to spread its wings to correct its balance when performing such a procedure.
In any case, the photo is fantastic.
