Since we have the same camera, I obviously just found it by accident while playing with the settings. Some of them tell you that "you can't make a video with this setting!" so that helps you understand what you can do and what you can't do. The setting for this type of video is the "miniature" selection on the artistic mode (the tiny palette just below the normal 'red' setting). Unfortunately, you get just one second of video for every 10 seconds of real world time, so it ends up feeling very very long to when you are standing there like an idiot in public. And yes, the "authorities" interrogated me again. This time it was ticket checkers in the metro who were on duty when I was filming that turnstile sequence. Even though you see no trace of them in my video (they were standing off on the side and I didn't see them either), they were uncomfortable with my presence. However, I will say that the man who came over to talk to me did not try to throw his weight around and simply asked me to stop while they were there.

I am very happy not to be involved in rush hour anymore, except voluntarily when I can let everybody rush past me. It continues to amaze me how the metro trains arrive about 90 seconds apart, hardly leaving enough time for the preceding crowd to clear out.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!! I was totally mesmerized until you hit the pub 'The Frog and British Library' -we spent an afternoon drinking something beginning with Blonde.....and watching Lance Armstrong in his last Tour de France.
At that time we did not know what we know now, but it alters nothing....we had a jolly good afternoon!

Fun, but to show crowds I think you should film at Châtelet at rush hour (or nearly any other time). That's my expression for a crowded place -- "Châtelet at 6pm".

I loved your new video Kerouac.....I recognised Place de la Nation where we will be staying but could you please tip me off about the last sequence with people going in and out of the beehive??? Where is that? Oh, and how did you film it from such a height?

Tod, Place de la Nation looks like this (in summer, of course) -- there is no column there, just a statue. The two columns are at the beginning of Cours de Vincennes:  I recognized the column at Place de la Bastille right at the beginning, then Place de la République is the big empty space. |

Yes, I have not made it to Nation yet for these videos.
I was on top of the Tour Montparnasse for the last part of the video. In the final sequence, the metro steps in the middle of image go down to the Edgar Quinet metro station.

Yes, it is République and the TV news crews were still parked along the edges when I was there.
