I love the free-of-charge carousel initiative. So many families short on funds hate seeing their children excluded from many seasonal activities...

It's nice to end my day looking at more Christmas in Paris pictures. That's a pretty little carousel at the Place de la Républic.
Was the forest inside a bubble something to be viewed only from the outside?

Thanks again Kerouac for making Christmas a little bit more cheerful for us Paris fanatics.

You certainly have done a lot of travelling around Paris to bring us an up-to-date look at the fabulous lights and ideas behind them. My thanks also! I think that was very clever of the 7thArr.

Was the forest inside a bubble something to be viewed only from the outside? Yes, there was no entry for the public. Considering the number of people at the Eiffel Tower, I'm sure it is a wise decision.

Under the Eiffel Tower, there is a Christmas forest inside a plastic bubble.

Finally catching up to this dazzling thread, with great gratitude, as I haven't seen much in the way of Christmas lights this year. I have to say that I really like the Bon Marché window -- a clever, rather turn of the 19th/20th century conceit meant to delight adults as much as children. Super, magical pictures throughout, Kerouac!

Unfortunately those windows did not at all delight the children. None of them even wanted to climb up on the little platforms to get a better look.

Does this mean I'm finally a real grownup?

Kerouac, I've got to say that looks worse than the crowds waiting for the Tour de France! I'm sure it was great fun but maybe a little too squashed for me - Oh, OK I would love it for about and hour!

What you won't do for AnyPort, Kerouac! I wouldn't be caught dead in a crowd like that.
We were in our small town in the Landes and all I heard were a few fire crackers at midnight. And it was much colder than it looked in Paris -- it was -5°C this morning.

Fabulous Kerouac! We are so fortunate that you share these events. I enjoyed it very much. Happy New Year!

My five year old granddaughter and I watched the video and we both enjoyed it very much. Thanks for braving the crowds!

I've been in Paris over New Year's more than once, and while we did go down to Notre-Dame, we scrupulously avoided les Champs.
I loved the Métro map. Very upscale-looking rubbish, by the way.

WHEW!!! That was WONDERFUL, absolutely OUTSTANDING! I felt so cheated last night as there was nothing in the way of municipal fireworks here, but your brilliant video more than made up for that. Some of those projections on the Arch gave me chills -- really great. I love how you captured the excitement of that big crowd, the way that everyone gives themselves up to the thrill of the spectacle. Also, catching the crowd as you struggled to leave. Ha, I had the same thought as LaGatta about the ritziness of the trash.

Posh Trash... I was glad to have a good perspective on the fireworks, sitting in my home office. No way would I want to be there until midnight, probably with a great desire to pee.
Was it as cold as it seemed, based on how many people were dressed?

Really nice report, to be sure, but that last part looked like my idea of absolute hell on earth. I imagine you are lucky you also weren't beaten for taking photos of the pour soul and his attacker(s).

You are a hero, I would not want to have been in that crush on the metro. Thanks for all your efforts in bringing us Christmas and New Year in Paris.
