A little test I did last night which is difficult and intriguing. I scored much higher than average, my husband scored lower. It means looking at photos of people's eyes and guessing the emotions they're displaying. I've always had an uncanny ability to know what people are thinking, long before they knew it themselves. Gets me into trouble everytime. kgajos.eecs.harvard.edu/mite/

I scored as average as the typical Brit.

I'm guessing I scored better on the first half of the test than I did on the second, since I started overthinking rather than going with my first impressions.

Second time I scored above average. There were 30 to interpret in this one and 37 in the one that Lizzy posted. I found the female faces much easier to read than the male ones in both tests.

Did Lizzy's test first...29/37 Then did htmb's one and got 26/37
having the score come after each picture makes me try too hard and not go with intuition. As some of the comments point out, it is not a real research tool, too many variables.

The photos all seemed completely outdated to me, particularly the "modern" women's eyes which all looked they were from the 60's or 70's.

I think the eye make-up was to accentuate the expression in them so it would be easier to attach an emotion to them. The men were mostly older and had more wrinkles which made them easier to interpret.

I'll do the second test tonight, but I got 35/37 on the one I posted.
Edit: I did the second test and got 36/36. But then again, it was almost exactly the same test.
They said the photos were taken in the 90s. I imagine they're in black and white in order to minimize the effect lighting and colour would have on our perceptions.

I would expect you to score highly, Lizzy, it would be part of your training and craft to show emotion in subtle ways. As you have said, you 'read' people quickly...a useful asset.
