Well, at least it is a record of how I live. This may turn into a permanent video feature or I may just abandon it, but since there are a certain number of people interested in the Paris that isn't just tourist attractions, I thought I would make some videos of what I see every day.

Very nice, Kerouac. I love the mix of time, place and weather. Lunching with Catherine Denueve once again then?

No, she is lunching with Kerouac.
That was great. For obvious reasons, you couldn't show the big chunk taken out of most everyone's day when they are at work. Even at the old folk's home, we don't see the staff.
I'm jealous of your winter rain. We've been having another very hard winter - I thought they were a thing of the past, as we've had so many mild ones with little snow. I hate being cold all the time.

Very good, Kerouac, but I think you could throw in some shopping at a Franprix at 9pm.
Lagatta, I thought of you the other day when talking with our kids outside Ottawa. The terrible cold plus the piles of snow...

I should have another one coming up very soon because I still have a pretty big stock of little video clips from the past few days.

Yes, it is not only more picturesque shopping at street markets, but also easier to film, because you are outdoors.
I suspect some of this footage may even have been filmed in "no-go zones".
(Moan alert) bjd, yes, pretty much identical temps, and remember, I'm a lot older than your kids! (Moan alert over).

Okay, here is a bit more Parisian chaos.

I need to explain that the music used in my videos is generally not at all what I would have preferred, but I have had so many videos banned due to music rights that I just upload the videos without music now and then look on the YouTube site for "approved" audio that is the correct length and which is more or less in the spirit of the activity.

I think the recent music has been very fitting, and the piano at the end of this last video was a nice addition.

Totally enjoyed it all. Couldn't understand the guy leaving the Boulangerie with empty hands. I've never left one without buying something.

Obviously these are a lot of fun to make, but I am going to try holding off doing any more until the season changes.

You can post one every day and it wouldn't be too much. What is the music you used for the last video?

That was my own selection for once, risking the idea that "Usmar" would be too obscure to be properly protected by copyright laws.

What I find striking in these videos is how similar the various parts of Paris are -- big streets with "Haussmann-style" buildings, and smaller streets with plain ones. I often think I recognize a place and then spot the name of a metro station and realize it's a place I never go.

Paris can be a bit 'samey' and dull I've found.

Mark, Mark, Mark! You must 'joll' ( an Afrikaans word for 'have a good time' in or out of a group)! It's only samey if you make it that way......sometimes I LOVE samey, other times I look for quirky, other times I find strange, but mostly I just love being in Paris! When are we going to 'bump' into each other - have you been with the family yet?

Both my daughters keep on at me to take them to Paris, and London, but I'm waiting until they are a bit older, late teens, so they can appreciate it better. If I take them now they'll just be moaning that the hotel TV doesn't have Disney Channel.

Even if it does, they might not like Violetta dubbed into French.

When they are late teens, they won't want to go to Paris or London with you, Mark.

Especially nowadays, as even if they know they will miss you, it will be more fun for them to communicate to you electronically (I was going to say skype or e-mail, but who knows what it will be by then).
I have a young cousin (that is, the son of one of my cousins) who is doing a term on scholarship in a castle in the very south of England, and my uncle (his granddad) is thrilled as he writes back about life there with an international group, as well as travels to London and France (don't know if he's been to Paris yet). He also has cousins in Belgium...
Cousin is very exotic there, as he is mostly of Indigenous descent. Moreover, he is a crack hockey player (can one still say that without a double meaning?)
You have to catch them between Disney Channel and late teens.
