It seems that you can have about any climate and location in South America. Anything from cold to hot. Beach to mountain elevations. I chose my location by several criteria. My wife is Colombian so that pretty much sealed my fate on what country. But still having so many options. Hot humid coastlines. In the Andes at altitude and a mild climate. Or even near the coast at altitude and mild climates. In the end I chose to live in a little town about 1.5 hour north of Bogota. We are about 7,000 feet altitude and our normal temperatures are in the 70s year around. Something that made this an easier decision is the cheap flights in Colombia. We can fly to about any place in Colombia for around $100 round trip.
I am curious to hear where others are living. The climate you prefer and live at. Have you traveled much in this country or South America? Myself. I retired 1 year ago and was 57 years old. I have traveled some in Colombia since then and have also been to several other countries. But I came from the north east USA and I just cant take the heat of sea level for more than a week or so vacation. I really love the climate here at 7000 feet..
