I think that all of us have singers whom we miss, often who died long before they reached old age for whatever reason. But there are of course other singers who lived to a ripe old age whom we miss anyway because we never got tired of them. Since we have almost reached the day of the dead, this might be a good time to list some of our favourites.
I think that Jacques Brel is undoubtedly one of the singers the most missed in France and Belgium. Lung cancer, age 49, 1978.

I suppose that I can't really say that I "miss" Grégory Lemarchal since I wasn't really paying attention to him when he won one of those TV contests and became a star. But he did have a beautiful voice and it was impossible not to find it tragic when he died at age 23 of cystic fibrosis. The fact that everybody knew he was going to die young was perhaps a factor in his popularity but not in his talent.

Far too many I'm sad to say. Can't even begin to list them all.

Jeff Buckley certainly did not last long either.
