The other evening we went along to see our grandson in his school play. The boys that have speaking parts are all two years ahead so our little one joined the Santa Hat chorus. We arrived early so had time to admire the handy-work of the kitchen staff who had laid out some drinks and nibbles for the parents and their families. The proud grandparents The embarrassed one is ours.... THE END...watch the kid lying on his back singing. Oh, and the Two Blind Mice with their Elvis Presley sunglasses

This is wonderful, Tod, and what a fine job your little fellow did with his singing. He's such a cutie, with lots of personality. I like the photo of the proud grandparents, too.

That is really incredibly cute. Why so early in the season?

Sorry chaps, I had to wait for the second video. So there is an EDIT.
Thanks Htmb - We really enjoyed the evening but I thought last year's play had less 'interruptions' and flowed more easily.
Kerouac - I used my new camera! And I seemed to have solved my loading issues on Youtube but will now earnestly look into getting the time shortened. You were right....it took all night.

Makes me wonder if I'm behind in getting out my holiday decorations.

Sorrreee! Forgot to tell you Kerouac that it is not early here.. The kids are writing exams as we speak and go home in the first or second week in December. They have two school plays - Juniors and then 3-5 graders. There is speech day and two prize-givings all to be fitted in. Office parties are in full swing and I don't know if there are still seats left for Xmas luncheon. One thing we are very lax on and that is Xmas lights. Very poor.

You are all so generous! Thanks, it makes the effort of 'putting it out there' so worthwhile.
Yes the school year is nearing it's conclusion and 6 weeks of holidays will soon be upon us. This is when parents feel the strain if their children are left at home all day while they still have to work..... "Calling all Grandparents! H E L P"!
The new term starts at end January and you can almost hear huge sighs of relief. I now understand the concept of the American Camp holiday for children, but am I right in thinking the holidays are 3 months long?

Here in Florida our school summer holidays are approximately two months long, and, since most working parents only have a couple weeks vacation time, they're always looking for something for the kids to do during the rest of the summer.

That looks like a very upmarket set-up for refreshments. I don't recall anything much being done in that department for my primary school plays. Mind you, it was so long ago, I'm entitled to be a bit hazy. My blog | My photos | My video clips"too literate to be spam"

For days before you posted this thread, Tod, I'd been trying to think of the name of those flowers on the refreshment table. Your pictures made me start cudgeling my brain all over again. So what are they please? I know they're a South African native & I've long been fascinated by them.
A friend of mine is going to S.Africa in December & I believe those mystery flowers will still be in bloom then, right?

Bixa, The one vase is of the PINCUSHION flowers, (which I think are native to Australia?), and the other vase had Giant Proteas. They are grown mainly in the arid Cape Town regions and on mountains where the wind blows off the sea. Apparantly this is important for growth. I am not sure about the flowering season.
