You're welcome, Lugg. However I must apologize for failing to remark on Kerouac & Htmb's pictures. Kerouac, that tunnel photo is wonderful with its depiction of form, perspective, and mood. Htmb, yours -- as always -- is an exciting display of composition and balance. And I love how crisp your photographs are.

Gorgeous! Is that the underground place (sorry, can't remember name) in Istanbul?

I am admiring how lovely it is with modern lighting, which makes me think of how creepy it must have looked with no electricity.

It is a Roman built cistern and would have normally be full of water obtained from the mountains about 70 miles away and carried by aqueduct to the many cisterns in the city. The pillars rest on blocks of stone that have been carved as heads.Story goes that the carvers would make a head upside down with the features of an unpopular citizen. Mockery and derision carried to new depths. [a href="http:// "]link[/a]

Interesting, but where is it? Questa, the reason you are getting those extra bits on either side of your photos is because you do NOT use the Image button to post a PostImage picture. All you need to do is post the code that PostImage gives you and it will show up just fine.

The cistern is in Istanbul a few metres north of the nor-eastern tip of the Hippodrome. Thanks for the info re images. I am still fumbling along.

Exquisite!!!!!
(that picture Questa posted of the cistern in Istanbul brought back a flood (pun intended) of memories.
It was the very first place I visited a mere couple of hours after our arrival. After the very long flight to descend into the cavernous ethereal atmosphere was so surreal. A lone flutist was playing which only heightened the experience with the perfect acoustics.)

I like the last photo a lot. Why do I feel like people are on the wrong sides?
