True, there might not even be an election if the country is under martial law or writhing in viral agony. Here's an interesting wiki to show how common it is: suspension of the constitutionHowever, even if the elections are suspended or cancelled, the terms of the POTUS and VP will end at noon on January 20, 2021. Per the Constitution, Amendment #20. Since the entire House of Representatives terms will also have expired in early January, the chain of succession would not fall to Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, but it would be up to the Senate to seat a new President. Since one-third of the Senate is up for election every two years, the remaining 65 or 66 Senators would determine the next POTUS. And because roughly twice many GOP Senators as Democrats are up for re-election in 2020, the current GOP majority would switch to a Dem majority, meaning we’d get a Democrat for POTUS, the new President Pro-Tempore of the Senate.

Per the Constitution, Amendment #?. "Suspension of the constitution." Is there a term you did not understand there?

Sloppy reading on my part. Still interesting possibilities if Trump tries to suspend elections: www.vox.com/2020/3/21/21188152/trump-cancel-november-election-constitution-coronavirusAnd with all the rabid supporters of the constitution amongst Trump supporters, it would be risky to mess with the sacred document. However, if Trump is entering scorched Earth territory, all bets are off. But the military and many top GOP partisans (albeit mostly retired) are coming out against Trump. If he pulls any shenanigans, there could be a coup to restore the constitution.

And looking at the wiki list, only ONE country of all those listed for full or partial suspension is a major European or North American country, and that is Spain.
It just doesn’t happen. But that’s what we said about a lot of things in Trumplandia...

We often compare our lives to that of our parents, but I wonder what each of our lists would look like for "I never thought that I would ever live to see…"

I never thought I would see a presidential candidate caught on tape bragging about “grabbing them by the pussy”, and then going on to win the election.
(I also never thought a candidate who body slammed a much smaller reporter for asking a question would be elected Montana’s representative to Congress. And now this same baboon is running to be Montana’s Governor.)

I always find it shocking to read social network comments from supporters who label the current poor excuse for a leader as “the best president ever" and "a super-hero." I have a few newfound, distant relatives who are extreme conservative Christians, and some of these comments come from them. I just don’t understand them at all. From what I can tell, they tend to be intelligent people. They have common sense when it comes to most situations, so this political attitude just baffles my mind. Though I don’t know them well enough (don’t want to know them any better), and I can’t be sure, I’m guessing racism and protectionism from "others" is the root of these feelings. As the newly appeared relative who is now reminding them of their southern Italian roots, I’m guessing I’m not all that popular a topic at their house either.

They’re not the kind of people who would even say that. Actually, the one time I visited their home area, I don’t recall seeing anyone of color.
Growing up in the southern US, I’ve experienced narrow minded thinking all my life, but It turns out there are northern red-necks, too.

"According to Bolton, Trump told Xi Jinping that the mass incarceration of Uighurs was “exactly the right thing to do”, and asked the Chinese leader for help getting re-elected. He said journalists should be executed. He thought it would be “cool” to invade Venezuela. He was uninterested in disarming North Korea, but obsessed for months about getting a CD of Elton John’s Rocket Man to Kim Jong-un. He thought Finland was part of Russia. He defended Saudi Arabia over the slaughter of dissident and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi as a wheeze to distract attention from a minor scandal involving his daughter Ivanka’s use of a private email account. And that are just the first scrapings from Bolton’s account."
The mind boggles.

Bolton should have testified in the impeachment inquiry. He joins Comey (who cost HRC the election IMO) in the club of those who eventually did the right thing, but in the wrong way. Too little too late.

Opportunist Bolton could have said all of this and more in other situations that mattered bigly to our republic. Instead he took the coward's way out and wrote a book that has reached best seller lists already. Like all the rest of this shabby crew, he's in it for the money. Rats do leave the sinking ship. The parade will be interesting. Yep. His offer to testify before the Senate after being so disgustingly coy about testifying for the House says almost everything we need to know about Bolton.

Bolton's book just dropped for free online. Here's the PDF: drive.google.com/file/d/1GvO7vDn-whr4Os7KZAOxiW4GW1gckjUb/viewTrump's rally in Tulsa left me gobsmacked. Repeated racism. Lies. Delusional behavior. Literally the demise of this creature on live television. The best part was that apparently younger people on Tik Tok organized a campaign to request rally tickets online en masse. Tens of thousands of requests were made by kids whose only intention was to inflate the numbers for the rally and then not show up. The venue was not full and the overflow area had to be disassembled because no one was there. I am proud of our youth!

Bolton seems to be almost as bad as his former buddy tbf...
Are there any 'honest to goodness', straight up good old boy/girl potential Republican (ptah) or Democrat candidates behind the scenes? As far as I can tell Mr Biden isnt exactly inspiring...he's no Obama but then again, he isnt Trump which may be enough to get him elected. The mayor of New York seems to have a lot of potential but he seems even older than Mr Biden. It feels like we haven't got any leaders worth their salt...and there don't seem to be any on the horizon.
We are in the same boat really in the UK, a buffoon in the big chair, surrounded by yes men...we have some very young ministers in our cabinet and one or two have potential I suppose. The opposition are struggling to make an impression at all. It's all very uninspiring.

In either the US or the UK, any really promising progressive will be systematically smeared and destroyed by the economically right-wing presses. And the liberal press is as guilty of this as the conservative one, which should really be no surprise because they are all billionaire owned.
