Tod, thanks for the information. Even more details about the Arènes de Lutèce may be found in the Thirza Vallois book, Around and About Paris.
Fumobici, I think you're right. I was a little early today, but the last time I visited the Arènes there were lots of adults scattered around the area eating bag lunches and relaxing in the sunshine. There are also shady benches placed around the perimeter where lots of folks sit.

Thanks for The Red Balloon post, Kerouac. A great little film, though sad at times. After rewatching the film I'm ready to go back to Belleville and Ménilmontant for a stroll, though I realize much of the area depicted is no longer there.

And thanks from me as well, I had never seen it before. I thought I recognised rue de Menilmontant and rue Piat ?? Before of course the Parc de Belleville was constructed.

Nice link, Tod. Thanks very much! I only wish I'd seen it before walking in that area this morning, but I can always go back.

That first one looks like an album cover! Wonderful group of shots. I love the first one of the trio, then the second shot of the same three with the pigeon caught in mid step.

So did you buy a large tacky sculpture to take home?

Actually, a large, heavy crate should be arriving your place any day now. I hope you'll like the mermaids. Other than that, I didn't spend a thing, but it was sure fun to look at the crowds and see all the junk nice items. My favorite store was filled with new and used books. It was super organized and contained beautiful on all different kinds of topics. I really hadn't expected to find a gift for my granddaughter who turned five yesterday, and I didn't. I will need to get her something before she visits with her family the end of this month,

I have to say that I find Clignancourt overwhelming, one needs a good guide. But it sells an extremely wide variety of stuff, from out and out junk to very valuable junk.

Agree completely, Mossie. Last couple of lunches in Paris. This first one was cleaner than it looks. No dirt in the food.

I've never ventured into the large flea market and am grateful for your photos htmb. Don't think we'll make it this trip. I see you have a splendid photo of the beginning of Jardins du Ruisseux. I do hope to walk down the hill from our Montmartre hotel and see the Petite Ceinture along that stretch.
Hope your trip home was pleasant.

Thanks, Tod. Yes, those gardens were quite interesting, but the area was closed on the day of my visit.
The trip home was the stuff nightmares dreams are made of thanks to Delta's worldwide computer outage, but it all worked out for me in the end. Now, if I could readjust my sleeping patterns.....
I have many more photos of Paris and beyond, and hope to get back to posting sometime soon. In the meantime, in my dreams I've been creating threads about Rio. I've never been to South America and am certainly not watching the olympics, so I have no idea why my brain has settled on Rio.

Glad you arrived safe and sound....we are glued to the olympics each evening and I surf up and down the channels until I find something interesting to watch. Mainly the diving and swimming. I look forward to more of your photos of Paris. Can never get enough!
