To this day, I think that Freddie Mercury (the lead singer of Queen) was and is, the best 'front man' ever. I loved him. I'll begin in mid to late career, Queen at Live Aid, 1985. ...20 minutes that changed the world of music, a short documentary.
The full performance by Queen is often considered the finest rock performance ever, The full concert, playing to 72,000 people... fabulous.

Well yes, much to say about Freddie. However, I am having a problem with the 'edit and delete' function. Where is it?

OK. I've given up on edit/delete.
Early Freddie and Queen: .....These I love,
The Great Pretender,
.........Not to forget the original by the Platters,
Bohemian Rhapsody, again, one of the greatest rock performances ever?
Don't Stop me now,
A fun lip sych performance on Jimmie Fallon by Paul Rudd. 30 years later, everyone loved it and once again, appreciated Freddie Mercury and Queen. Paul's second song. .....
I Want to Break Free,
You may have heard of the final two... We are the Champions,
and, We Will Rock You,

His final days... Freddie admired and loved opera. He wanted to sing opera, if only somewhat. His concert with Monserrat Cabelle in 1988...."How can I go on?" Perhaps only he knew what this meant.

Freddie Mercury, or, Farrokh Balsara, died of Aids complications at the age of 45 in 1991. Still in an age (early 90's) where extreme prejudice existed re Aids. He seemed to have been very lonely at the end. Having Aids and being gay shoved him into a lonely closet. To this day I feel so sorry for his loneliness.
His final gift to us is this song, not comfortable, but sad and beautiful...He breaks my heart. The other band members seem aware that this is approaching the end, for Freddie. They are each beautiful in this sequence. Each of them are alive today.
Listen especially to Freddie's final few words...Full face and his most beautiful gentle whisper...'I still love you'
These are the Days of our Lives....
Note: Freddie was extremely ill and it took many months to put this video of only a few moments together. The other Queen band members also knew what this recording meant, Freddie's last song....each played beautifully. I love him.

Hi Jazz! First of all I'm very, very glad to hear from you.
Second of all, the last song has me in tears, as it makes me think of some close friends (one in Toronto) who died from complications of AIDS. Though as handsome as ever, Freddie does look horribly gaunt, and his rather baggy clothing (for a glam rocker) attempting to hide it.

Lagatta, great to hear from you as well! Like you, I am moved when I hear Freddie's final song. I mourn his loss. At the same moment, it makes me think of two of my close friends in film at that time, both beautiful and both died of AIDS, far too young. Freddie Mercury is and will always be special. He was brilliant and far ahead of his time. His vocal range was exceptional. Here is a good article from Rolling Stone, on the lad from Zanzibar, Farrokh Balsara (Freddie Mercury)... Although I found that he had great talent, I could never really be a fan of Freddie Mercury because of my fear of clowns. I have discovered that flamboyant singers of either sex invade my comfort zone just like clowns and make me cringe. Much better for me to just listen to the music and not see the actual performance. In the same vein, I really liked Elton John when he started out and completely turned away when he decided to become Liberace.

Just been watching the 1992 tribute to Freddie Mercury concert. The version of Annie Lennox and David Bowie singing Under Pressure was unbelievable.
Perhaps somebody could give the YouTube link.

I was too young to go to a concert of queen with my bro. It was last time he went in Belgium. Never saw them. Shoot. The movie last year was fantastic.

Just watching it again. Some of the best musicians I have seen are on this. Lisa Stansfield doing I Want to Break Free ! Under Pressure brings up the hairs on my neck every time. George Michael was at his absolute peak.
