so, my mom has her birthday in a week and a half, and she kind of made this tradition of making pumpkin soup on her birthday, there won't be any sweets or desserts ... except, i like sweets and desserts, so i thought of making something if i find the time - and to keep with the theme, i suppose something from pumpkin. am researching online - but would of course like suggestions if you know any especially nice pumpkin muffins/cakes/desserts ... (i must admit, i didn't like the "normal" pumpkin pie i had when i was in the US, though no idea if there is a variety of recipes and i just happened to have one i didn't like so much) ...

I think the only kind of pumpkin pie is the one that you tasted, with slight variations of course.
It is probable that there are various pumpkin based cakes and breads that might appeal to you.

thanks! i suppose the second one is out because of the raw eggs (as my sister in law will be there, and she is pregnant), but the first one looks good - and then they have links to several similar ones that also contain a chocolate layer - so i will have a look at those, too ...

You can replace mashed bananas with pumpkin puree (canned is best) and make a nice cake. Nicer if you add nuts or chopped dates and a little 5-spice powder.
