Of course now people in such areas know to recognise what it is and what has happened, but just imagine in the old days when it was a true WTF moment.

My father had seen snow on the top of Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya but never touched it until he came to the UK in his late teens.

Thanks for posting this Mark - I would never have known of this unusual snow fall! I am very surprised but when people say the weather around the world has gone crazy this is proof. We too have had heavy snow falling in the Drakensberg region only two weeks ago. It turned the temps. really chilly in Pietermaritzburg as the icy wind came sweeping down off the snow. Back to mild weather again here.
