You've seen videos of someone cooking and even though the food is good and the recipe seems interesting, what annoys me sometimes is the cook/chef themselves. I want to see the food, not the person. Maybe except maybe Anjum Anand. This is an Indian food site with numerous videos, where all you see is a pair of hands and has no facile commentary. Each video is only a minute or two long and makes a refreshing change from the cult of personality surrounding some chefs. It's a stripped down version of making a dish. It's 99% Indian but there are a few other ones - hebbarskitchen.com/For example -

Thanks for that Mark. And, I totally concur with your disdain for the over the top focus on the chef and not as much of the food.

Much as we all love to talk about food on this forum, it's good to remember that there are many threads for showing us how to make food. As I just learned about a book that teaches Indian cooking, I came looking to see what anyport offers in that vein. Here is a great thread that needs to be expanded. This should help, a link recommended on anyport ages ago: manjulaskitchen.com/And about that book ~~ I took a look inside and was impressed with how the book starts by giving background on the different parts of the country and their regional styles. I imagine this will be of most value to those who live where they can buy the ingredients needed. Hmmmm. Amazon no longer lets me copy/paste their photos. While looking for a picture of this book I could copy, I found a page offering the book as a free pdf. Yes, the one from Amazon is only $1.99, but I don't know if that price is available anywhere besides the US, nor how long the offer will last. With that in mind: www.yumpu.com/en/document/view/66791626/download-free-pdf-indian-cookery-course-by-monisha-bharadwaj[/quote]
