Has anyone watched Billions?
I watched a few episode of the first season on an airplane and am trying to convince Mr. Kimby that he’d like it, even though it isn’t “on his list”.
Paul Giametti and Damian Lewis star and the feel of the episodes I watched reminded me of Succession which we both liked, but without the family dynamic.
Any input?

We’re about 2/3 of the way through the first season of Billions and both enjoying it. Mr. Kimby paused while we were cross-country skiing today to tell me that he had figured out why certain seemingly random characters were introduced - what role he thinks they will play in moving the plot forward. Shows he was thinking about the show well beyond the hours we are actively watching it.

I am not sure if Breathtaking has been posted about before . But anyway I was finally in a place that allowed me to start to watch it ... behind some of my colleagues but way ahead of others, particularly those who worked in ED and ITU and of course, not just colleagues, but family and friends who are still trying to recover. Anyway I have managed x 1 so far - think this review is probably best to expand on it .. www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/reviews/breathtaking-itv-covid-joanne-froggatt-b2498614.htmlI am going to withold judgement until I seen the rest.

France Télévisions just started a new version of La Peste (The Plague) by Albert Camus. This takes place on the Côte d'Azur in 2030, therefore post covid. We have rats, corrupt politicians trying to hide everything and people dropping like flies. Just like real life.

I have managed x 1 so far You are made of strong stuff. I got upset just looking at that picture of Joanne Froggatt with the mask marks on her face & the thousand-yard stare. Considering your profession, this must strike you quite hard. She is an excellent actress, so probably makes the production even more real seeming & hard hitting.

Just popping in to say that BILLIONS is definitely worth watching. Looking forward to season 2 (of 7 so far).
Meanwhile the library is holding Season 4 of Succession and Season 5 of The Crown for us.
Happy days are here again!

Lugg, I've watched two episodes of Breathless so far as well. It made me cry (of course). We also watched the last episode of The Way, directed by Michael Sheen. According to the critics the series was a huge flop for the BBC. We watched it, it reminded me of the work of Russell T Davis. It wasn't awful...

I have not watched it yet due to not having heard of it. But just now I googled "The Way, directed by Michael Sheen". The Daily Mail said bad, somewhat unhinged things about the production. The Guardian gave it a glowing review. Gee whiz ~ what to believe?

Just finished the fourth and final season of Succession, and though it won lots of Emmy awards and others said its conclusion was satisfying, we found it not up to the standards of the earlier seasons, and not satisfying at all. The plot was all over the map and totally unbelievable and confirmed for us that all of the main characters were unlikeable. They deserved each other and what they got in the end.

I am sorry to say we started watching REVENGE on Disney channel only to find out it is a worse Soap Opera that Dallas or Days of Our Lives. If you love the actors to appear in beautiful ballgowns and chic daywear, the action always taking place in beautifully furnished homes, then this is for you. The storyline taking place in The Hamptons repeats the same shots often eventually had me thinking - How much more of this can I take? No more....it is just to uninteresting after starting out quite promising. www.imdb.com/title/tt1837642/mediaviewer/rm273925376/?ref_=tt_ov_i

DEATH AND OTHER DETAILS - Disney Channel: Now this one was more like it although I was totally confused at times. Twisted and misleading characters take you through a trail of murders and murderers. The ending is so surprising of course!

I am watching the series Sharpe that dates from 1990 about the rise from the ranks of a Sergeant in Napoleonic wars. Sean Bean is excellent in it. They sometimes speak very low and with a thick accent and use swear words that even I don’t know but I still manage. The episodes make about 100 min each - I watch them at the gym in 2 long or 3 normal sessions …

Ooh my husband and sons used to watch Sharp every week when it was on tv. It must have been shown at weekends as I have no memories of it...aside from Pete Postlethwaite as a mean Sergeant. I worked a lot of Friday and Saturday nights in the 90s so I was in zombie mode most weekends

We are watching Fallout on Prime..OH is enjoying it more than I am...it's one of those post-apocalyptic things based on a computer game of the same name. Our eldest son was raving about it. We are on episode 4 but I'm only half watching it...gratuitous violence, gore etc etc...the sort of thing that I think that teenage boys would enjoy....

I finally finished watching all of Friends, doing the last few episodes in a mini-binge the other night. It has given me so much pleasure & so many laughs that I was sorry it was over, even though I have an issue with one of the finale elements. Picking whatever follows after a series that gave total satisfaction is important, as it has to be good but ideally should not be something that invites comparisons to that previous series. Well, Ripley has been waiting in the wings, so I watched the first episode last night. Oh gracious! Everything you've read about the exquisite camera work and about Andrew Scott's perfect depiction is true and then some. I look forward to savoring an episode of this per night. I'm including links below, all of which probably contain spoilers. But the book(s) upon which this series is based are well known: The Talented Mr. Ripley is a 1955 psychological thriller novel by Patricia Highsmith. The novel introduced the character of Tom Ripley, who returns in four subsequent novels.
