I found the Nuit Blanche particularly disappointing this year. Since it is never possible for me to see more than about 10% of the events, I don't know if it was my fault for choosing the wrong things or if the event was just not as good as usual.
I'll start with my unexplained video this time. I'll add some photos in a day or two with a bit of commentary.

The official duration of the Nuit Blanche is from 7pm to 7am although quite a few things close around midnight or 1am, particularly the churches which often have a 7am mass the next morning. I don't think I've ever been to a Nuit Blanche past 2am, and this time was no exception.

What a shame it has turned out to be a rather damp squibb this year. I have only been in Paris for one Nuit Blanche and saw nothing because we had no idea where to look. This year seems to be another great big yawn

Ooo ~ I dunno about that, Tod! Some of the stuff looks great. I love the snaky silver tubing on the fountain, my compulsive nature would have been engaged by the man in the gallery window, the light show at the Collège des Bernardins looks wonderful, as do the spinning lights in Kerouac's video ........ I could go on!

There was a main stage on the bottom level of the plaza under the Canopée, but I did not stay around long enough to see it in use. Considering the amount of glitter being deployed in this operation and drawing on my experiences from the disco years in the 1980's, I knew that there will be traces of glitter in the area for several weeks if not months. It was already spreading when I left Les Halles, because there was glitter going down the metro steps, glitter on the metro trains, and I have even seen it in my neighbourhood.

My last discovery of the evening (it was 1 a.m. now) was in the Daniel Meyer junior high (collège). It had an uninteresting (to me) video installation but what really fascinated me was to see a school that had finally solved the problem of all of the unspeakable things that happen in school restrooms. They have simply made the restrooms transparent, both for boys and girls. Yes, the toilet stalls still offer a bit of privacy but nothing else. After seeing that, my Nuit Blanche came to an end. s19.postimg.cc/81v8sg6ur/NB2017_119.jpg

You need a hearty pat on the back for your staying power! You have shown us that once again a great variety of performances are to be found all over Paris. I would never be able to follow in your footsteps and would have to settle for maybe one or two things.

Good grief! Once again I am awed by your willingness to chart your way through the daunting number of presentations, performances, etc., not to mention keeping track so you could report it all. Also, your modesty about the photos is unfounded, as they are interesting and quite good despite the difficulty of capturing things in all the extremes of darkness and alternate lighting. I particularly love that second shot of the Jardin Rosa Luxemburg.
I have to say that the transparent pee-pee pods are somewhat shocking. It looks as though the men are standing exceptionally close to the urinals in an attempt at a little privacy.

A new generation of boys deprived of the peeing contests! When I was in Catholic school where the restrooms were shared from grades 1-8, the big boys would stand against the back wall and piss all the way across the room, creating the mess you can imagine.

Is that where the saying (through gritted teeth) Oh, Boys will be Boys! comes from ?
