Those photos are precious. I always take my iPad with me so I can download my shots onto that each night. My youngest son had a camera snatched from off his neck once which has made me wary.

Today I had lunch with my friend who lives in Mulhouse whom I had not seen in perhaps 10 years. Yes, we have both aged. I knew he was an administrator in a high school there, but I was highly amused by the name of the school -- Lycée Ettore Bugatti. It is a technical high school specialised in the automobile industry!
As for Mulhouse itself, even though he loves his job, he says that Mulhouse is too small and that he is a bit bored by the city. He lives in Illzach in the near suburbs and does find it nice when he goes into central Mulhouse, but the real nightlife and interesting bars are all in Basel, which is almost as easily accessible. He has visited the automobile museum, obviously, but has not seen the Cité du Train. He doesn't like the Schlumpf collection because it is all just cars lined up in a big hangar, almost just a parking lot, but he has heard from students, including visiting German students, that the train museum is totally wonderful due to the way it is set up as a varied itinerary. I ordered him to go there.
Another thing he likes about Mulhouse is the airport, now called the EuroAirport and probably the only airport in the world shared by three cities in three different countries at the same time -- Mulhouse, Basel and Freiburg. He has been going all over Europe from there, usually on EasyJet, and his only regret is that the airport does not do long haul flights to other continents.

Thanks so much for that feedback. He has got it terribly wrong about Schlumpf. Yes you saw the cars lined up in some sections - how the heck would they fit them in otherwise?, but the entire museum is set out in the most viewing advantages possible. A point to ponder is that the museum has continued to add cars right up to this very day and I am of the opinion that they will build yet another storage unit to accommodate them. If anyone has watched the TV show American Pickers, they would have seen numerable old rusting cars that desperately need to be rescued. When we were in Canada I was taken to an amazing car museum and thought no-one could beat this but Schlumpf makes it looks like a very little brother.
About the school - I think that's the one we saw. Not sure if the students so ill dressed were from there but I'm guessing "yes".

What a great report Tod thank you. I would not have thought some of the photos were taken in France . It certainly looks such a lovely area with a great variety of things to see and do
