The EU has finally set some dates for the disappearence of classic lightbulbs.
100 watt bulbs will no longer be sold starting in September 2009. In 2011, they will stop 60 watt bulbs and in 2012, 40-watt and 25-watt bulbs will no longer be available.
In the EU, this will reputedly save the equivalent of the electricity used by a country like Belgium, not to mention 32 million tons of CO².

Really?! That's amazing. Have people in the EU mostly gone to fluorescent lighting already, or is this a move to make them.
I had no idea about the CO2. If anyone would like to enlighten me (ahem) about the curly-cue light bulbs and how to select them, I'd be most grateful.
