Well, you two certainly know how to live the good life! This is a treat of a report, Mich ~ the mellow colors of the buildings, those sweet old-fashioned beds, that alarming crucifixion figure, and the mountains. The sky and water views are out of this world. I see you got a very green bathroom in one place. Looks like you all ate very well. What are those animals in the next-to-the-last picture -- alpaca?

Thank you Bixa! We indeed had a very green bathroom, I think our friends room had a purple bathroom. Those are indeed alpaca, you could take one for a walk for a fee. There was also a hut that sold scarves and socks made from their wool which made excellent Christmas presents for our parents.
Now that I have figured out how to post again, I will have to load all of our photos and I will post a larger selection and will also include Venice and Milan in the following days.

Very much looking forward to that!
Incidentally, congratulations on mastering posting pictures from Flickr. It's my preferred hosting site, but indeed a fiddly process to post from there to here.

Finally have some time today to apply some additional photos from our holiday! Once we arrived in Venice we were able to give back our rental vehicle. I was especially pleased that I had taken the time before departing Canada to research where the drop off was located and to follow the route on google earth. We were able to locate the gas station before the causeway exit, refueled and spotted the rental car office quite easily. We headed for the Tourist Office and bought our 3 day water bus passes and then we were on our way to our hotel/apartment. We got off at the Rialto stop. I think everyone was a bit overwhelmed where to go next, but I had walked the route on google earth so I knew where we were headed, a quick 3-4 minute walk down a few streets/alleys then crossed over a small bridge and found the tiny sign on the door of our rental. We had a 2 bedroom rental with a lounging area and kitchen separating the two rooms with each had a bathroom/toilet. The one room also a had a washer and dryer. We purposely packed lighter because we knew we had this option of doing a few loads of laundry to freshen up. We spent the days wandering the island, visiting the island of Murano and had a enjoyed a lovely meal together with Tod2 and her dashing husband.

I want to see those pictures! mich64, this is what you put into the Image slot in your last post above: https://www.flickr.com/photos/157601560@N04/42309615994/ It won't work because it doesn't end in jpg, jpeg, or any of those suffixes indicating an image. By accessing your url (because your Flickr account is not set on Private), I could see the picture. I went to the bottom right corner of the picture, where the little downward-pointing arrow is. Clicking on that arrow gave me a popup menu of choices. The last choice is "View all sizes". I clicked on that. That opens your picture up with a choice of 13 different sizes, from tiny to huge. I clicked on Medium 640 (480 × 640), and the picture opened to that size. Then I right-clicked on the 480x640 picture & selected "copy image address". I then clicked on the Image icon in this message box and pasted that address into it. This is what we get ~ Precious, precious picture! And you look very serenissima there in that beautiful city -- just lovely. I hope this explanation works. I love Flickr, but posting pictures from it requires extra steps.

I am going to give this a try tomorrow, my concentration is failing me today Bixa, but I would like to see if I can do it again. I enjoyed posting my reports and have many new photos from our holidays in Ireland and France after this holiday in Italy. Is that an Aperol Spritz ? Thank you Lugg! Yes, an Aperol Spritz! They do indeed taste good! I want to see those pictures!

Looking forward to it, Mich.
The apartment where I stayed in Verona had some kind of aperol soda pop in the fridge. I tried it and it was vile. After that I saw people all over Italy enjoying their aperol cocktails, which are easy to tell because of the distinctive color. Well, after my experience with the pop, I did not try one in Italy. Lo and behold, once back in Oaxaca again, I went to a gathering where someone brought Aperol and made spritzes. Wow ~ they really are delicious!
