And it will be mostly about eating, drinking and beaching.
No magnificent cathedrals...

That is great Mick! How long are you there for?
Friends of ours are waiting on verification that they got a a pet sitting spot in Malaga in March. They will get free accommodation (4 bedroom house with pool), use of a vehicle and golf cart for looking after their three cute dogs.

Thanks Mich!
I am in La Cala de Mijas which is on the coast midway between Fuengirola and Marbella. It is designed for tourists but not touristy if you get my drift.
Here until October 9. It was 29 here today.

View from the pizza restaurant tonight. And yes I know I am in Spain but they cook the best pizzas anywhere. Plus Mrs Cactus has a bad cold and this was nearest to our apartment. But the fascinating fact was the young couple who sat in the corner. For 95 per cent of the time they looked at their phones and there was no conversation. Even when his food came up he ate with one hand and looked at his phone with other. She had water, he had coke which he didn't drink. She had spaghetti Bolognese which she didn't know how to eat and much of it went down her front. I despair of our youth. Actually there were lots of people around, just not when I took the picture.

She had spaghetti Bolognese which she didn't know how to eat and much of it went down her front. I'm surprised that no clever entrepreneur has yet started offering spaghetti in a hamburger bun. I admit that the first thing that struck me in that last picture was the lack of people, especially since it looks like a lovely place.

Was the couple Spanish or English? Or didn't they say enough for you to hear what language they spoke?

The lack of people was fortuitous. It was actually very busy.
They didn't look Spanish I must say.

Lunch today was at Albahaca, a very Spanish restaurant at the edge of town.

Indeed. I had Andalusian garlic chicken and Mrs Cactus had melon and ham.

Is the garlic or chicken from Andalusia, or both. This is the important question that won't let me sleep tonight unless I get an answer.

It is actually busier than it looks but we are near to the end of the season. The beachside restaurant we were in yesterday closes on the 7th.

We ate at a seafront restaurant that we have been going to for over 30 years. Sure it's changed but not a lot. Originally it was at first floor level but then the first floor was converted to apartments and the restaurant area went to beach level. In the old days they had coachloads of Russian tourists and laid on flamenco dancing for them.
It is family run and has moved from grandfather to son and now to grandson and wife and to tell the truth the menu hasn't changed much. But it is how they operate which all other restaurants could learn from. There is no rush. They all move leisurely and in a Costa del Sol summer when it's 35 plus that is understandable. Your meal always turns up at the right time, the quality is excellent and nothing is forgotten. That's all you ask when you eat out.
Many Spanish eat there particularly on Sunday which says a lot.
