Today ended 3 weeks of wonderful gatherings with family and friends. I adore them all, but I hope the phone does not ring tomorrow with another invite!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday time!
Mark that must have been exhilarating!

Very, very quiet. Seeing friends later on in the week. Many had family obligations yesterday, but I was happily home with Livia, making duck empanadas (for later in the week, but of course I ate one). If you are wondering why just one, it was because it was one of the large ones. I also made medium-sized ones; no tiny empanaditas this year as while they are incredibly cute, they are so frustrating for the cook as guests hoover them up in a few minutes.
I scarcely set foot outside. It was quite chilly, but sunny. I confess I'm trying to track down a garment in the Boxing-day sales, much as I hate doing that. With luck I should be able to have them put it aside and pick it up tomorrow, but nothing is certain at times of retail madness. No actual shops are open until 1 p.m. so I'm not fretting about it now.

I pulled back into my shell like a hermit crab. Naturally I went to the movies, too.

As always, with the Belgian part of the family ... 10 pers. in total. Lots of food, excellent wines and a good ambiance. Can't wait these days to be over and back to normal.

I'm having an "in-between" meal for a few friends who are seeing family for the Réveillon and NY Eve, and seeing other friends somewhere around NY as one is arriving from a long stay in Cuba, but will get home late at night. Other than that pretty quiet, filing and shredding papers and other tidying up. Looking for a new plant with a medium light requirement - it is on a table near a window but not directly at it.
I did go shopping yesterday, and fortunately it wasn't busy. Most people are at work; only certain groups have the time between Christmas and NY off, and fewer still until Epiphany. I needed boots; sort of a knock-off of LLBean boots with rubber at the bottom; these seem fine and were very much reduced in price.

I am usually not lucky waiting for sales on footwear, my size usually sells out before the sales can even start. We ventured into the mall yesterday expecting crowds and lineups but were pleasantly surprised to get in and out after completing an exchange quite quickly.

I didn't at all expected to find a pair of practical boots; I went to that shopping centre because I found dark-green jeans in my size at Reitmans; they were set aside for me. Finding boots was a fluke as I take a very average size and they are usually sold out on sale. I think they were new stock brought in. They are Kamik, not the same quality as Sorel, but decent and at least supposedly made in Canada.
