Canal Saint Denis: art, grime, the past and the future

I am approaching the Saint Denis train station now.

But this time I decided not to take the train into Paris. I preferred to cross the city to get to the metro station.

Lots of activity in the main street. Most of these guys are selling contraband cigarettes.

These displays amused me since the niqab (full face covering with mask) is against the law in France. But masks are authorised for medical reasons, so...

There is actually a project to build the missing tower of the Saint Denis basilica. Frankly, I don't think that I will live to see the day.

The market square of Saint Denis is probably the biggest one in the region.

I saw that Saint Denis has new and different metro signs. What I did not know was that the Saint Denis Basilique metro station is closed (as is mine).

I took the T1 tram instead all the way to Noisy-le-Sec (insane!) -- but I enjoyed sitting down and it was also air conditioned.

At Noisy-le-Sec I took the train into Paris. Can you imagine the job of painting the social distancing circles on the platform? Anyway, that's how I spent the first part of my day.
