The marine creatures are magnificent but the clothing seems excessively 20th century gender oriented to me. Of course at that age, Lorelei will not care at all but it will be important to see what she really likes as soon as she can express her own ideas.

Cheery, yet again you have surpassed yourself! Who else in the entire world would have thought of creating a hammerhead shark? And the seahorse -- sure to be loved by little Lorelei. Using that print for the legs of the turtles was a brilliant inspiration. Just wow on all of it!

the clothing seems excessively 20th century gender oriented to me I don't think so, even if they are little dresses. The colours are not traditional pastels -- on the contrary, they are colourful and imaginative. I really like the little sea animals.

Kerouac medear...these are the first garments I've ever made On a sewing machine. And I used the buttenhole foot! This is the simplest pattern that I could find and I hope that you saw that the white dress material is covered with science motifs. They should fit her when she's around 6 months old...she won't be choosing her own clothes (never mind pronouns) for a while yet. Bixa I was really chuffed with the effect of leapard print fabric

So, you would have made the same clothes if Lorelei had been a boy?

Probably. Actually the pattern has a romper/dungaree type thingy too but that involves complicated fastenings that I'm not quite ready for yet. If Lorelei had been a biy I'd have attempted the romper...next on the list...

Rompers are perfect for everybody. Probably adults should wear them too, at least at home. I think some of them do.

I love them all!! I'm so impressed with your talent.
At a time when I could really utilize having a sewing machine to make some basic things for the new house (curtains, pillows and cushions) with all my salvaged fabric I have hoarded for years I'm on the hunt for an old sewing machine without all the "bells and whistles" similar to the one I had. I comb the local Craig's List here on a regular basis but so far, nada.

You can use a sewing machine?! *impressed*
Two days ago I had to sew up a seam (by hand) in one of the dog beds because Oliver likes to grab it, shake it, & kill it when he's excited. I'm still exhausted from the effort.

Well, I can use a sewing machine but am far from being as gifted as Cheery. I met a young guy yesterday who repairs sewing machines and has quite a bit of business from associations that try to teach skills. He told me a woman had driven 80 km to Bayonne yesterday with her machine so he could fix it. I guess that means that there are few people around who can do it.

I was always impressed by my mother's skill with a sewing machine. I have no idea when she learned to use one, but when I was little, she had an old Singer pedal machine. She bought a much fancier electric one in the early 1960s, very surprising for the modest means of our family. I remember the man who delivered and demonstrated it. It had an "amazing" new innovation of being able to do zigzag stitching. I don't think my mother ever used that function. In fact, she hardly ever used it all, which makes me think that sewing was a pastime she craved but was never able to find the time to do.

I'm still exhausted from the effort. Yes, for simple things. Nothing at all along the lines of Cheery's creations by any means. I made you a garment with a fish themed print years ago. Remember? I only know how to use the older model machines. The newer ones are way too high tech for me.

Oh Cheery those dresses are beautiful. Just love the many creations for your great grand-daughters mobile - how lucky is she . I can imagine her delight when it is all put together. Plus I have to agree with the marine theme - indoctrinate them young !

What is their diet? Are they vegan?

Surely their diet would be krill or small sea creatures like our beloved mammals that live in the sea.

Your sewing efforts are marvellous Cheery! Very well done indeed. Your creatures are worthy of an upmarket toyshop!! I'm sure you would like a wander around my shop with a section devoted entirely to haberdashery items. Even though we are far away take a peek - tinyurl.com/2wuxarnj

Wow! That's a lovely website Tod. I get most of my fabric from a UK online supplier called 'Elephant in my Handbag'. They have the Kaffe Fassett and Liberty designs that I love so much. I'm only buying cotton atm because it's easy to use on the sewing machine.

What is their diet? Are they vegan? Nope ....just sirens ....So me believe that the Sirens are cannibals who consume the sailors that they lure over. Others believe that the Sirens are unable to provide food to their visitors, which eventually leads to starvation, as the visitors can’t leave because of the Sirens’ song. The Sirens survived because their divine nature means they don’t need to eat anything.

I started this patchwork to use up some small scraps of fabric...but it's got a little out of hand. The patches are different sizes and shapes. Fun tho...might end up in Lorelei's nursery when it's been padded and backed.

Beautiful, Cheery! Don't get addicted to making patchworks though -- you will quickly run out of walls and surfaces to put them on. Did you make it by hand or with your sewing machine?
