I lived with a family where Mum was a champion dressmaker and qualified tailor. She specialised in weddings and 'After 5'...formal wear . As you can imagine her 'scraps' bucket was full of the most gorgeous fabrics...silks, satins, brocades, laces, some shiny like pearls, some sparkling like crystals. I made a quilt in the old way of cutting a few cardboard hexagrams and stitching the fabric using them as patterns...all by hand. It turned out well but I dare not use it because every piece had different washing instructions.

Ooh that sounds beautiful Questa. I have the templates for all the shapes, but I just can't be bothered atm. It's definitely a 'just somthing to do' thing between projects.

Advent calendar. Originally meant for a small relative but I was talked into keeping it or us...every pocket has chocolates in. Bobby Bear...a 66 year old much loved teddy bear...wearing his new elf suit. Pirate I made for Granddaughter...the moustache is to hide the mess I made of the mouth. Another doll...using a new pattern. Want to make a doll suitable or a child (of course)

I used the dolly pattern for the pirate, and used a template for the hat, boots and trousers...but I came up with the pirate coat myself.

Your lucky granddaughter! Although maybe you should keep these dolls for a while until she can really appreciate them.

You are as talented as ever. What about some football dolls for the boys in the family, since we are now past any gender issues in the doll world (ha ha)?

I've been keeping busy....phone pics because that's what I've been using lately... crochet blankie first attempt at a jointed teddy bear Second attempt...the fixings are called 'cotter pins' and my hands just aren't strong enough to fix them in place. I've got myself some different ones that seem easier...and probably better (plastic safety joints)

I'm not quite there yet. I'd probably be thrown out for my liberal use of naughty words

I love the teddy bears. I've seen too many crocheted blankets in my life to be able to appreciate them, but I understand the psychological need to make them.

Beautiful, Cheery! I love your vibrant color choices. Thank you htmb. The wool I've had ages, I love bright colours. The yellow fur for the bear I picked up a while back dirt cheap.

Kerouac crochet is just something that I do between projects to keep my hands busy. We all have a fleece blanket for the winter..but Jeff pinched mine as his has a shiny material lining (so it slides about and starts off cold). The crochet one is super warm..and because I used bright colours the menfolk are unlikely to pinch it.

Your blanket looks very 1970s.

Kerouac crochet is just something that I do between projects to keep my hands busy. That's exactly how my grandmother was although she moved on to doilies later in life. "I don't know what to do with my time!" If only there were more lovely people like you and my grandmother.

Your teddies are just gorgeous Cheery and I admire the work you have put into them and the blanket. I t bought a starter crochet kit some time ago - this has given me a nudge to get it out next week.

Love the bears, particularly the yellow one, with his expressive shoulders.

My sisters are demanding teddies for their grandchildren...in fact one has already been kidnapped by a sister who wanted a 'car teddy' (it wasnt a good one...looked more like a beaver than a bear )

I can just see a little child nuzzling in that bushy moustache and giving kisses! No mistakes here, just unexpected variation from norm.

Since I saw the movie Cocaine Bear the other day, I would be careful with them.

Those are so well done, Cheery. The head on the first one looks kind of small compared to the rest of him, but I am so impressed with your abilities.
