Oxford Dictionary announced it's choice for their annual "word of the year". (Although, technically it's two words) (2019)
Climate Emergency

I see that the word of the year for 2020 is "lockdown."
I wonder why.

Actually, I suspect lockdown was in second place. First place went to something on the order of °¡@*&%^#.

New French dictionaries are about to come out this year and most of the new words are related to cyber events. But I thought it was interesting that although Youtubeur and Instagrammeur were already in the dictionary, this is the year they are adding Tiktokeur.
It was also mentioned that "youth" dictionaries which are already abridged due to space limitations are deleting the word "walkman" this year. Time marches on.
