My husband has gone to town for his Bivalent Booster shot. I will go next month as our doctor advised to wait 3 months after having COVID.

That is sobering news, Rikita. Poor woman.
Happy for your husband & glad that you're on track for yours, too, Mich.
This morning in the Veracruz Airport I ran into two people whom I don't know, but who will be my new neighbors. They had also just met each other. We all sat down together to have breakfast, along with some interesting chat about coffee production & other topics. Then the woman started flapping her jaws about The New World Order and related shit. The Man, a Canadian, chimed in with suggestions of violence which he felt Trudeau deserves. They were all in agreement with stupid crap about "control", etc. The man left to smoke a cigarette, but the woman remained, spouting loony paranoia & assuring me that were I to listen to the wisdom of certain defrocked doctors, the seeds of reasonable doubt they'd plant in my govt brainwashed mind would lead me to the truth. I wanted to throw my eggs in her silly, new convert face, but I was hungry.

Trudeau really triggers the Canuck Snow Trumpers (who are just as crazy as the US variety). Not sure why... oh well!

I should probably get an updated booster for my trip to Italy, one of the lawyers I have to deal with caught Covid on a short vacation in Portugal two weeks ago. Luckily she's fine.

Yes, some Canadian crazies talk about Trudeau as though he was evil incarnate. He has done a few silly things, like he and his family dressing in Indian clothes on an official trip to India, but he is generally okay and rather harmless. The "freedom convoy" in Ottawa last year called for him to be killed, obviously taking a note from the Trumpies.
I have been told to wait either 3 or 6 months for a covid booster after having it. My usual GP said 6, his replacement said 3. There are still ads on the radio telling everyone they can have a booster but covid seems to have disappeared from public awareness.
Can you convince your landlords to build a high wall between you and the crazies, Bixa?

Ha, Bjd -- in fact, I'll be able to politely avoid them. But all of those conspiracy goofballs are scary. It's that amorphous disgruntlement with the realities of life that leaves them wanting a sense of control over their unexamined lives. It appears to lead to their willingness to be zombies for conspiracy theories that allow them to feel "in the know" and somehow less threatened. And of course proselytizing & gaining converts to their mass hysteria feeds into their sense of rightness.

I'll see my GP on a routine visit this week, and I'll ask her if she thinks it is time for a 5th shot.

a friend who was with us on our skiing trip last week contacted me today that she has covid, so i did a test, and i have it, too. very mild so far, though, i wouldn't even have done a test had she not told me (i do have some symptoms, but since i had a cold for a while, with negative tests, i assumed it is just still the same cold - it felt today like the symptoms got slightly worse, but i think that might just have been psychological) ... a. is fine so far, just bored when she is not at school and i don't have time because i am working ...

Mr. Kimby has come down with something. Seems to be a cold, but with a bad cough. He tested negative for COVID yesterday, and isn’t any worse today.
But I woke up early this morning as he let loose with a flurry of juicy coughs in my direction. I turned over as fast as I could, but suspect I’ll come down with whatever he’s got.
I haven’t been sick in years. Kinda enjoying how COVID precautions have greatly reduced both influenza and the common cold. No one’s being careful anymore in our part of the world.

As I expected, my doctor encouraged me to get the 5th shot. She said that from now on out, we'll obviously be getting a shot every year, like for the flu until they manage to combine the two into one shot.

She also said that none of the covid vaccines stop you from getting covid. They just make the case milder.

Kimby, how are you feeling now? I hope you manage to dodge whatever bug bit your husband.
I mentioned above that I had an encounter with a stupid conspiracy theorist the other day, who aired her beliefs about covid & the covid vaccine. I won't repeat the crap, since we've all heard it, but it seems one objection these morons have to the vaccine is that it doesn't cure nor prevent covid. That is somehow proof that the vaccine is only a vessel for implanting the unaware of us with chips. Further proof of the perfidy of covid vaccine promoters is the fact that we'll probably need yearly doses. I despair.

Does anyone have a photograph of a syringe containing a chip? I'd like to see how that is done.

I think it's the really big ones like you see in cartoons. That's where these people get their news.
I am surprised that there is radio silence on the infected pangolins being dropped out of Chinese balloons.

Once they hit the ground, they made haste to hole up in the Ping Pong pizza place. The name made them think it was a safe house for Chinese pangolins/

Let's refresh our memories according to Johns Hopkins.
673,113,002 cases of covid reported since the beginning 6,855,491 deaths
The Spanish Fort Riley, Kansas flu killed more than 21 million people using the medical capacities and knowledge of 100 years ago, so there has been considerable improvement but perhaps not as much as we could have hoped for.
I imagine that we can at least double the covid figures if you consider all of the places that underreported the situation or didn't even have the ability to know what was happening in remote areas

The precise reasons are unknown, but it has been discovered in France that the number of cases of depression among young people has increased 15-20% since the beginning of covid.

Kimby, how are you feeling now? I hope you manage to dodge whatever bug bit your husband. Thanks, Bixa. So far so good. And Mr. Kimby is feeling a bit better today. Spoke too soon. I started coughing yesterday, and took a COVID test today. Negative. Guess it’s just a cold. Though a strange cold. Just a productive cough, no congestion. Yet. But how we picked up a cold when we’re so careful about germs, I don’t know.

We probably all got so pure being careful these past few years that now our delicate constitutions pick up colds or other household illnesses all too easily.

Good to know! My mother & one of my nieces got covid before there was a vaccine & have since been vaccinated. My son was up-to-date vaccinated but got a case of covid recently. I suspect these three people are representative of the general population in terms of covid/vaccination.

Hoping that you both have a quick recovery from your colds Kimby.
COVID cases have tripled and it is not even March break yet so concerning for our community.
My husband is on a cancellation list for another procedure in Toronto so I am hoping what bjd read will be helpful to us, if we were to get it, hopefully it would resolve quickly being vaccinated and recently had a bout of it last year. We are being careful like most and are still trying to do our best to stay healthy so he can get the procedure as soon as possible. It would be so disappointing to have to cancel because either of us gets ill with COVID. His appointment was cancelled last year due to the cardiologist getting COVID and it took another incident to get him in now.
