Kerouac, is this your fav supermarket Paris Store? I haven't been shopping fort over a week now and you have got me wondering if our supermarkets are looking a little worse for wear….. In the grocery department I am going to be needing potatoes, flour, butter, fresh greens but none of these items are critical for at least another 10 days. I would like to see if it is possible for us to go the whole-hog without shopping. I think we can .

Those are 'French' sections of the Chinese supermarket. The Asian products are still fully stocked.

I went to the supermarket this afternoon. Pretty much most stuff was available, at least that I looked for. The only empty shelf was for flour. I wanted to buy dry yeast and there wasn't any. I guess people are cooking and baking since they are stuck at home.

It is funny, the Vietnamese superette near me also has an aisle of "Western" food, which includes stuff that isn't East or Southeast Asian. It includes items from several different origins. This topic really has me craving a roast duck from that shop. But I'm trying to be very careful with money and do have several sources of protein from beans to frozen fish.

I have a boned Peking duck in my freezer that I bought there last week, but I don't know when I will defrost it. I wish it were not all in one piece, because I have to think of at least 4 or 5 ways to use it in the ensuing days, so of course it loses its appeal by about the 3rd time.
My Chinese supermarket is actually half and half and doubles as a French supermarket of the G20 chain. The majority of the French customers there buy their groceries as though the Asian products did not exist.

I heard from my sister last night that on the "news" she saw that wild pigs were running through the streets of Paris. I’ve put the word news in quotes because I’m guessing she was really watching one of those sensationalized entertainment shows that try to pass as news. So, my question is, have there been credible reports of pigs running through the streets of Paris? Asking for a friend.

There have been ducks walking in the streets of Paris. Far from Paris but in the British town of Llandudno, a herd of goats 'invaded' the town. Has your sister been trained in wildlife identification or geography?

But, Kerouac, if someone reports this information on television or the Internet it MUST be true, right?

I think this might be what she saw:

Sure. We’ll be watching to see if you mention having a surplus of pork sometime in the near future.

Those are boars! My friend who lives in a suburb of Toulouse told me this morning that her garden keeps being dug up by boars. They bought a night-vision camera and set it up. One night they had a sow and 6 baby boars in the garden. Mostly they just get cats.

Absolutely love that drone footage of Paris, even though it's rather chilling.

I would love to stroll those empty Paris streets. Too bad about the plague thing.

Paris almost looks like a model, just spoilt by the odd vehicles moving around.

These pictures are really interesting to see. We’ve heard passengers using buses in New York City are being managed in the same way. It’s certainly important to keep drivers safe.

htmb, splendid and sad. I'm glad the video shows a fairly wide variety of neighbourhoods, not just the grandest.

Unfortunately, those are the grandest areas. There are far too many people in the street in my neighbourhood. But the video is fantastic.

This morning I spent a half hour watching the police at work below my building, checking the forms for going outside. I did not actually see them issuing any fines, but there were a number of animated discussion with people who did not have the proper documentation. I saw that arms are waved a lot in cases like this. That makes everything more convincing I guess.

What documentation is required K2 - ?

There is a form to download. You fill one out every time you go outside with your name, address, time and date and you tick the appropriate box with the authorised reason for going out. There is also a version for smartphones, but watching those people downstairs, I saw that it seemed much more complicated for them than the ones with their sheet of paper.
