I almost never look at the Fox News site, but I made the mistake of doing so today, and found this headline: Walgreens in Dem-dominated city shuts over severe infestationWhen you click on the link, this is what you actually get: San Francisco Walgreens shuts over 'severe rat infestation'Those damned Democrats are clearly destroying America! Not surprised, the Walgreen's in SF and Seattle are about the dumpiest, most run down and depressing stores in either town. They are threatening to close them because shoplifters aren't being jailed, largely because of COVID. I doubt their story however, I think they just want an excuse to unload those shitholes to bottomless pocket developers to raze them and turn them into into boutique cannabis shops, multi-million dollar per unit condos, wine bars, and "innovation spaces".

Typical Dem-domination then.

What starts being said about Biden over here is that he is much better looking, speaks much better than Donald and has manners but the same lack of respect for Europe.
Friendship between US and Europe is long gone, alliance is not even to be taken for granted.
We are simply nit on America's radar anymore, except for a few ruins to visit from time to time. And tip the guide, please.

Ditto what Fumobici said. I've seen videos of persons riding bicycles into some of these Walgreens, security guards present and little to no attempt to thwart let alone arrest shoplifters from "shoplifting" and, just standing by. High end condos etc. surely to follow...

I agree that it is all Biden's fault. (I'm just saying that because I have no idea where this discussion is going!)

What did you not understand about "Dem-dominated city"?

What did you not understand about "Dem-dominated city"? I caught it and knew what you were referring to but, in this case it has little to nothing to do with the current administration. San Francisco has been on it's own "Dem-dominated" way before Biden was elected. Maybe I missed something or misinterpreted what you were trying to convey.

Maybe I missed something or misinterpreted what you were trying to convey. The point was the Fox News spin on the topic, and for them it is very much "Biden administration" even though it is totally ridiculous.

Was there an EU when Kissinger was relevant?
Perhaps the original quote was “Europe”, not EU. Because there is an actual head of the EU isn’t there?

In Kissinger's day (the 1970s), the EU as such didn't exist. Now indeed there is a foreign affairs secretary as well as a political leader of the EU.

At this point, my working assumption is that Kissinger is Satan incarnate. All signs point to this.

His Nobel Prize cheapened the award forever. Now anyone can get one if they have powerful friends.

I'm not sure if giving it to Obama, who frankly never did anything to deserve it beyond giving a pretty speech in Egypt, didn't cheapen it yet more.

President Biden on live TV, saying all the right words, and not tripping on his tongue.
Won’t make a difference. But Merrick Garland’s efforts should. Wish the process wasn’t so glacial, though.

Biden has had a long enough Democratic career to know all of the right words to say but (seen from an international distance), I can't say that I have seen the achievement of much in his first year. I'm sure that a lot of people needed those stimulous cheques, though.

Giving money to people who HAVE TO spend it does improve the economy as well as the lives of those individual families. Giving money in the form of tax breaks to the wealthy just lets them plow more money into the stock market, which isn’t helpful to the vast majority of Americans.

So, have the tax breaks been cancelled or is there at least a plan to do so?

Post by fumobici on Jan 6, 2022 18:08:28 GMT
Tax breaks for the rich are bipartisan boilerplate. I remember when the Dems criticized the huge "Bush tax cuts" on the rich. Shortly thereafter they became the "Obama tax cuts" (except never called that) when the Dems took over. Ds and Rs are same shit, different wrapper when it comes to whoring for the super obscenely rich. Neither can bend over enough for them.

Is Guantanamo really being closed at last? (Still 39 prisoners.) This is one of the most disgraceful things that the United States has ever done.

|

Post by bjd on Jan 11, 2022 19:47:35 GMT
Absolutely. The 20th anniversary of the opening of Guantanamo was a long item on FR24 news this evening. If any other country kept people imprisoned for years with no charges or trial, the US would be calling for strict sanctions.

And probably bombing them.
But Obama said he was closing Guantanamo, too and never did it. Apparently, if the prisoners are transferred to the United States and start benefiting from application of the justice system, the results are going to be so awful for the U.S. government that it probably cannot bear to face the music.

During the campaign, didn't Biden say that he would only serve one term? Well, now that he wants to serve two terms, it is becoming pretty obvious that he will only serve one term. Get ready to welcome back President Trump.
