I am nearly at the end of a few weeks of complete upheaval ; surely renovating a kitchen is one of the most trying tasks...with no where to cook and wash up being part of it not least trying to find space to store the contents of the cupboards. Plus coping / reassuring a cat who has a hissy fit every time the builders arrived and a dog who just wants to join in the fun ...all the time.
It is the third ( and hopefully last) time I have done this, but this time I was on my own , well apart from the guys who were doing the hard work.
I started by clearing out all the crap ... umpteen Tupperware box lids with only a couple of boxes, that kitchen drawer !!! that everything just gets dumped into , or is it just me ? Lots of jars and tins of food, spices and essentials well passed their use by date ... I never knew I was such a slob/ hoarder.
Anyway this was on a tight budget ..mainly because I plan to sell the house in the next year or so and so some things had to stay to keep the costs down and also some things were not passed their sell by date and working perfectly so from an " save the planet" point of view they stayed too.
The previous times I have changed the kitchen , I found that I made several mistakes that I had to live with so was hoping that I would not make so many this time. It is a long narrow space , with a breakfast area at the end before leading into a study . If I was staying/ money no object I would change that but that was not an option for me.
Anyway here are the before pics (albeit partly cleared)which as I look back on them don't really show how grimy it was
This huge fridge / freezer takes up to much space and once useful for a family , now not so much,
