For people interested in this, you don't need to go to France at all next year. You can see the Tour in Denmark, Belgium or Switzerland.

What a stunning presentation Kerouac! I am sure Le Tour will be well attended as people shake off the shackles of Covid and its limited travel - this of course means Europe is going to be busy busy busy and if one doesn't like to be shuffled around - give this July a miss! The whole year will be big tourism I suppose.

The Tour de France féminin is also returning next year. It existed from 1984 to 2009 but was abandoned, certainly for financial reasons. But women's sports have returned big time over the last few years. Alsace is very excited for reasons that you can see below.

Meaux and Provins are going to be jam packed without a doubt. I have never fathomed out how men can stand those teeny-weeny little saddles - Now to reckon on female saddle sores is painful.

It is quite likely that the French media reports are a bit biased, but they are making it sound like Denmark is going into a frenzy before the Tour starts on July 1st. (The first three days are in Denmark.)
And the Danish view....

Watching the first day of the Tour de France. Time trials. It is pourng rain after being sunny all week. A few cyclists have managed to fall even when they are all alone on the road. Bugger! The Danish crowd is beyond enthusiastic.

It is a total delight to see the Tour going through Cap Gris Nez and Cap Blanc Nez today on the northern coast of France. The Two Capes <--- an Anyport spectacular

Listening to the idiot Virenque, i really think he is an idiot. Anyway he was saying the tour went from Binche to Longwy (?). Pronouncing like a british would : 'beensh'. Instead of 'baincher'.

I heard quite a few of the commentators mispronoucing Binche. It is a mystery town for the French.

I heard quite a few of the commentators mispronoucing Binche. It is a mystery town for the French. I can see why, when I looked it up it sounds like "Bosch" to me. You'd never have that sort of confusion with an Italian place name. See it; say it. You'll be spot on unless it's one of the those rare words that doesn't accentuate the penultimate syllable. And don't *even* get me started on English, what a dumpster fire spelling and pronouncing that is. I'm only glad I never had to learn English.

They were lucky today because today was a rest day, but tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest ever.

Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark has definitely been the star this year, even though lots of people thought that Tadej Pogačar of Slovenia would be winning for the third time in a row. But he is only 23 years old! Jonas is a very mature 25.

In this new post-covid time, one oddity is that the journalists at the arrival have to wear face masks because there was a covid epidemic during the Giro this year (6 May-28 May). So the cycling authorities have ordered the return of masks.

Your video is not available in the US.
Also, in the US, or at least for me, the Tour is shown live with a paid for subscription to "Peacock." For those of us with regular cable, there is a one day broadcast delay.

I watched Tour de France when Eddy Merckx was cycling. I didn’t like it I find it super boring. Now I avoid it like the plague.

Well, there was no great suspense today, but the images were beautiful. Basically, the images are my main reason for watching anyway. Clermont-Ferrand is such a beautiful part of France. It’s worth the trip just to see the area in person.

I didn’t like it I find it super boring. For super boring, you need to watch golf. It's like watching paint dry. I find it quite exciting because you never know what is going to happen. Favourites are suddenly eliminated and complete unknowns can suddenly win a stage. There is no boring "playing field" or a ball to hit into a goal. It is perhaps this lack of framework that bores some people. Today's stage from Vulcania to Issoire was exceptional with the oppressive heat but the riders still trying to do their best after the day of rest. Tomorrow will probably be painful for a lot of them.

For those of us who are not cycling specialists (everybody here, I think), I find this commentary fascinating because it is mostly total gibberish to us.
