Train World is a museum in Schaerbeek, Be.
It is an old trainstatuon that now is disaffected and been transformed into a museum. I think i took the train from Schaerbeek in early april 1990, to join our battalion in Germany so the museum is relatively recent.
30 mun from hime, so after driving 40 min we parked in the street. Schaerbeek is imo a nice municipality. According to some it is best avoided. Zemmour and Le Pen would not like the area.

A crane steam wagon, with Marie in front. The first trains were coming from UK... Name is Juliette. Some wheels that have belonged to massive steel monsters. Map showing the density of railways in Belgium just before WW1. A global view of the oldest locomotives. We call them locos. No reference to Spain. Just splendid beasts from end of 19th century. The state of the art of the technology. I love locos. They recreated a portuon of a railways, with rails of different periods. Tchou tchou. I am the mechanic/driver.

This loco is superb. Is the hero of a cartoon strip by Schuyten, i will try to find a pic of the album. The tender, holding water and coal. An old coach. First class, forbidden to smoke, both for Flemish and Walloons. Inside, 2d class. Compagnie des wagons lits, which opetated, among othets, the Orient Express. The bar of the Orient Express. This is the bathroom of one of the royal coaches. Dining room of the royal coach. One of the first locomotives built in Belgium, called 'le Belge'.

If only we could go back to the luxury of some of these old trains. Of course, most of us would never be able to afford the price of the tickets.
It looks like this museum was at least partially inspired by the Cité du Train in Mulhouse with the dark displays under spotlights, making everything much more dramatic. Anyway, I am happy to know that this place exists because I am always looking for new things to do in Belgium.

Wonderful photos and looks like an impressive and informative museum.
My only question is whether or not Schaerbeek still has any working train station.

Let's face it...we are mostly people who like to travel, romantics by nature and the images of old trains feature in our psyches. I used to belong to the Australian Steam Rangers when my kids were young and we would often run a full train of 5-10 carriages on day trips around the State. There are few things more thrilling than watching a loco let out a blast of steam with all the sounds and feel of the steam.
