We were to spend a day in Nice but ended up only a few hours. Not Nice'S fault.

We first parked close to southern rail station. But parking st Palais de Justice is closer to the vieille ville. Most of the old buildings are painted pale The bank. There is a big space along the main roads, separating the old and the new city. Promenade des anglais. Same, towards the sea. Same, on the right further away you will find the 5 stars hotels.

I keep planning and postponing a trip to Nice by the night train. (I would possibly fly back from there.)

My guess is that this house used to be something else a few centuries ago. Same here. Are these arches remnants of an ild building ? This street leads to the non touristy old Nice. They have wine Small streets l9okung like a souk... I like it View from a terrace. Covid struck... first time in my life i see a souvenir shop for sale.

Loved Nice, I'd go back in a flash. Well, once Covid fades into the background. Not going anywhere for fun until then.

I remember Nice so far back I think Whatagain and Kerouac were in nappies ...Huggies not invented yet! We parked our motorhome on the Promenade des Anglaise (forgive spelling) and I sat on that pebble beach throwing stones with my two year old. I was a young mommy of 36yrs old.

Throwing pebbles with children is among my best memories.

Well, you certainly created a very nice report from your few hours in Nice!
Great pictures -- I particularly loved the first one & the one with the ferris wheel.

Strange, there used to be a Nice photo thread here I did. It's apparently been erased.

I do not erase threads. Ask the old Mexican woman.

Strange, there used to be a Nice photo thread here I did. It's apparently been erased. I just looked, Fumobici, and I can't find it either. Perhaps it disappeared into some alternate universe along with my report on Cholula and all those pictures of Marseille I posted. Interesting.

Lovely pictures Whatagain. Thank you for sharing...
I must admit to having to take a second look at the title of your post 'a quickie' being a euphemism for something altogether different here....

I can't find the photos on my server which means I was at fault for using a third-party photo sharing service, TimyPic, which went away. Mea culpa. There's really no point in keeping photo threads with no photos, well deleted. I will never use a photo hosting site again, what a waste.
Ans sorry for the highjack Whatagain. Nice is really pleasant to walk around, not just the old town but the whole area. Monaco to Cannes is a pretty, short, and cheap bus or train ride away too.

Threads with pictures missing because of tinypic or other such services are NOT deleted. They are marked with this symbol: . The symbol indicates "falling", meaning that if someone posts in that thread, it will not bounce to the top as would usually be the case. But the thread remains & can be viewed.

It looks nice in Nice, maybe one day. Thanks Whatagain - you certainly do get about.
