A new series all about the plants of the world started tonight.
It showed leafcutter ants removing all the leaves from a bixa tree...

Not surprising.
Even though I went to the Paris zoo to see bigger animals, the ants were among the creatures that I watched for the longest time.

Mind you, the Bixa tree flooded it’s leaves with poison and all the ants went off to another tree.
A sneaky bixa trick.

Its on BBC1.
You might think this is absolutely the programme for me but so far I’m rather underwhelmed. I even fell asleep during the last programme but admittedly I wasn’t well which didn’t help.

Thank you Mick. I'll scroll through the BBC section and see if I can pick it up. The one frustration with the system we have is that the F1 Grand Prix cannot be viewed in English. The only station allowing it is Ziggo which is Dutch. We listen to the commentary and pick up whats going on here and there but not being Afrikaans ourselves we have to rely on school lesson learned so long long ago!

I loved it. The cinematography is astonishing. So far no 'here we see the sweet baby whale with it's mother...let's see what happens when a school of orca decide to torture and kill it for fun' moments thank goodness.

So true Cheery. He’s a bit obsessed with animals tearing each other apart.

Under Lula, the destruction of the Amazon rain forest has slowed enormously, and Lula and Macron have big plans to continue the protection during Macron's current atate visit to Brazil, the first visit by France in 11 years (due to Bolsonaro). French Guiana has the second highest percentage of forest cover after Suriname -- 92% -- with almost no loss while Brazil lost more than 10% under Bolsonaro. Macron and Lula announce €1 billion investment plan for the Amazon
