This could be considered funny if uttered by an ordinary man in the street. A little less so when written by a former president and prime minister of Russia.

Meanwhile, both Mélenchon (far left) and LePen (far right) are accusing Macron of playing electoral politics by going to Ukraine just before the next round of legislative elections. Of course, since both of them are Putin fans, they are among the rare people not to criticize him for not going earlier.

Vladimir Putin is a worthless bastard. It needs to be repeated from time to time.

One useful effect of the invasion of Ukraine is it made me aware of what total dumpster fire/shithole Russia really is. I can see why Trump found them attractive although in Russia, Trump would be the most honest, progressive, and liberal politician in the entire country. And maybe its entire history. Fuck Putin, fuck Russia.

The war is now in its 6th month.
The Ukrainian government has announced that it should recapture the city of Kherson by September. This was the first major city captured by Russia at the beginning of the war, very close to Crimea.

The official communiqués from the Russian authorities are reminding me more and more of the American press releases during the Vietnam war -- downplaying casualties or any other bad news and accusing the other side of any and all atrocities. At least in the United States there was still a mostly free press to sometimes contradict the lies. The Russian public doesn't have this option unless they are consulting outside sources on the internet. But with Putin's popularity running at about 80%, why would they? (Then again, can we believe Russian popularity surveys?)

Remember that we are dealing with people who have no concept of truth. From infancy they are immersed in lies, misrepresentation and deceit so they believe nothing but whatever (or whomever) they are told to. The threat of the Siberian labour camps helps them "forget" what yesterday's leaders said.

Putin is enlarging the army by 10pc, in terms of personal. A way to plug holes in the units, quite depleted in Ukraine, i guess. Oryx site, detailing losses, gives about 1000 tanks... Russiacis said to have 12 000 tanks, but a lot are unserviceable. 50 pc, more ? So 1000 tanks knocked down is huge. Very huge losses.

Can't wait for the entire Russian military to collapse under the weight of its own incompetence. Not expecting it any time soon however. Maybe in a year or so.

I wonder how Putin is going to get another 137,000 soldiers if he doesn't declare that it's a war and not just a special military operation.

* Hang on tight, boys, there is a mudhole ahead, I can roll her here and we can make a break.
*What is broken? Needs fixing? Tomorrow will do. no rush.
*nice village ahead, maybe they will give us a meal for some of our fuel.
Meanwhile, back in the Kremlin "*^$%#@(%**+

Apparently Ukraine drove 50 kms in one week through russian held territory east of Kharkiv. Blitzkrieg is back ? And one day Russia will have to evacuate their troops west of Kherson before they are fully trapped.

Things are going so well for Ukraine right now that it is a bit scary. If Russia is able to hit back as hard as it would like to, the results might be terrible. But it seems that they are running out of weapons and are buying crap from North Korea and other places.

This is not specifically about Ukraine, but I find it very edifying about the Russian mindset at the very lowest levels of society. It is actually quite similar to what the same level of people (peasants?) say in all of our other countries about the rest of the world.

Meanwhile in the coup d'état yesterday in Burkina Faso, the people were attacking the French embassy (suspected of supporting the previous government) and were waving Russian flags. This would seem to indicate 1) the lack of political sophistication of the local population 2) the ease with which they can be manipulated.
