I talked to my Ukrainian friend in Toronto on Tuesday. He said he participated in a march in downtown Toronto last Sunday and there were about 30,000 people.

While this is extremely minor on the scale of any discussions regarding the war, on our local Ontario Hockely League team we have 2 players from Russia, 1 from Belarus and 1 from Ukraine. These players are between the ages of 16 and 21. The team plays tonight, their first game with full attendance being allowed since COVID19 restrictions were put in place 2 years ago so it will be well attended this evening. As we usually recognize world events with words of acknowledgement and a moment of silence before the game begins, this must be quite conflicting and complicated for the players in the League from Russian, Belarus and Ukraine.

That does sound a bit complicated, but with a little luck they all feel on the same side.

Very interesting article, LaGatta!
Your point is hardly minor, Mich, as it brings to life the discomfort and ambivalence referenced by LaGatta in the OP.
