I started watercolour painting during the first Covid lockdown. Would you like to see some of my paintings? 😊👩🏻🎨🎨

I especially like the Roman aqueduct-like train trestle.
Among the flowers are three that look rather like Clematis, and I like those very much, too.
The whiskery bunny and the galloping hare, well done! The owl and the little falcon are also favorites.
And the cats and dogs, wow!
When did you take up painting, Rita?

First lockdown March 2020. I felt the need to do something constructive and relaxing that didn’t mean me gaining anymore weight, unlike my passion for baking.🧁🥧🥮🍩🍪 Throughout school I loved practical subjects best of all, anything using my hands, especially art which included pottery. I left school in 1968 and in 1970 joined the WRAF, best decision I ever made, by the way. Twenty years or so ago my now late aunt told me that I should have gone on to art school after leaving school but I didn’t go because my mother couldn’t afford the fees... I had no idea. Very many years ago I bought a few tubes of watercolours, paper and brushes with the intention of teaching myself to paint guided by TV programs featuring Alwyn Crawshaw, but I got nowhere. I packed away my paints until March last year... A dear friend of mine is a very talented artist and tutor, often posts photos of her amazing artwork on Facebook, making me more and more wanting to learn to paint watercolours again. Her regular art classes had to stop because of Covid Lockdown, so she emailed tutorials to her students and I’m so very pleased to say she included me. My confidence is growing and taking up this wonderful hobby has helped me get through yet lockdowns. 😎🎨👩🏻🎨

It's never too late!
When I said I liked the wildlife, I hope you didn't think it was the only thing I liked.

Kimby this is Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland and the Hogworts Express. 😎 ibb.co/s2X6MXsMost of the flowers are from photos of plants growing in my garden and yes one is a clematis “Fond Memories”.

My daughter encouraged me to use prints of my watercolour paintings to create blank greetings cards, which I do now. I sell them at local craft fairs and via a Facebook page. I do everything at home from start to finish.

Very impressive Rita.
While most watercolor artists that I know concentrate on one subject, your range of different subject matter is vast. And no one subject stands out equally to the others.
It seems that the pandemic produced some hidden talents in a lot of people.
( a tiny bit of advice that may or may not apply but a friend of mine made blank greeting cards from her watercolors. She had them displayed in several gift shops, markets etc. Some sleazebag reproduced her cards and she couldn't do a darn thing about it. A lawyer friend lent his free time in going after this guy. She ultimately did win the case but had to get a patent to do so).
Thank you for sharing these with us and keep on keepin' on.
