Putin had a hard time saying anything positive about Gorbachev and there will not be a state funeral on Saturday. I would like to see Putin's funeral soon.

That is most unfair to Marx.

I want to know what that gesture is that Stalin is making.

Speaking of opportunities, I heard a Russian historian saying yesterday that Putin is where he is only because of Gorbachev. If Gorbachev hadn't brought down the UUSR, Putin would have perhaps risen a bit higher in the KGB but would certainly not have the power and wealth he does now.

I saw that story earlier today in The Guardian. Your link has more information on the mysterious series of deaths within the Russian oligarch set. But the The Guardian had the one source saying that Maganov fell off a balcony while smoking because, you know, that happens all the time.

Looks to me that Stalin is wiggling his fingers with the palm turned upwards which is a pretty universal way of saying, "Come on, We will eat you for breakfast and spit out the bones. Just try it."

re the oligarch. According to Russian media, he died after a severe illness. Or else, he also died of a heart attack. How he managed to fall out of a hospital window on the 6th floor after a massive heart attack is interesting. I guess the fact that his company, Lukoil, is one of the rare big companies to criticize the war in Ukraine has nothing to do with it, nor do the deaths of another Lukoil oligarch and his family in Spain.
The Russian secret services don't even bother to mask assassinations any more.

The Russian secret services don't even bother to mask assassinations any more. I keep thinking of the deaths of Rasputin and of the Romanovs...nothing new under the sun.
