Well to change from my habitual 93, i slept in St Ouen. Took the metro line 4 stopped, when to Porye Clignancourt, terminus and walked to my hotel.

Very close to my hotel, a typical side street. Clean. You live like a local there... Some new buildings. Rue des rosiers i serm to remember. Side streets are the same... the whole area is similar - called les puces de St Ouen. Antiques. Real or fake. Frankly i saw similar streets in China or India.

Frankly i tried to take more pics but the mood was not there.
Basically it was not a bad area but a place with no charm. Typical 93 i would say. Gentrifying but nowhere are you wowed
My hotel was ok, i had a rv at another hotel, a 4 stars in a kind of old manufacture. Mob house. I was in mob hotel. A 3 stars. About 25pc cheaper - in line with 1 star less. The guy had made a reservation at their restaurant. Result as expected, dull, not really good, horrible service and very expensive.
I ate like in a brasserie andcpaid 83 euros - not far from a Michelin !
Well. I can say i have been to St Ouen.

People call the department of Seine Saint Denis by its number -- 93. Except you don't even say quatre-vingt treize. You say neuf-trois.
They have been trying to upgrade Saint Ouen but have not been very successful yet. However, with the new metro stations that have opened and the Olympic venues, it should start to change rapidly now.

Yes, St Ouen is not really a place to go to wander. I used to go to check out the flea market in Clignancourt -- more or less the same area -- many years ago but it's pretty dreary too

During the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), Saint Ouen is going to participate in building the longest table in the world stretching from Saint Ouen to Saint Denis to Aubervilliers over 3.3 kilometres. This will take place on Sunday 18 September. There will be food, of course.

I can agree that it holds no charm but thank you for sharing, Whatagain. Nice to see you.

So nice to see where you have been Whatagain! I have never been to the Flea Market but looked up your hotel to see if I could afford to stay there - I definitely cant! Sooooo expensive - Over R2,350-00 a room. Sorry didnt convert to Euros. Lovely photos of The Mob Hotel's interior and long pool in the garden.
I hope Kerouac is going to send us photos of the long table!
