Good article by an excellent journalist.

While the situation is rather hilarious (in my opinion), I can't help but wonder what "ordinary" people think of such things. Is the first thing to come to mind "royal" or just "sleaze"?

I have no idea what others may think but I think this ... OWTHs ( or at least his)

From the article: “… a lock-up with a single swinging lightbulb somewhere off the M25 might be more appropriate…” Good point.
Sleaze is probably putting it mildly when referring to him. He’s certainly a privileged, spoiled, unrepentant jackass who should just go away from the public eye and use the remainder of his life to quietly do some good for society, in my opinion. A shame that will never happen.

Once a royal, always a royal. This of course includes Harry. And that will be the case as long as royals exist.

A shame that will never happen. So true and he knows it. He can't grasp this concept, nor does he seem to care because an entitled, coddled narcissist is not capable of doing so. In his head he truly believes that the rules don't apply to him, and he can't rely on "Mommy" to fix it anymore.

Sorry, I think that's a non-article written by someone who has bought into the guilt of someone who was never tried in a court of law.
I'm not saying that Andrew isn't a clueless entitled buffoon, or that he is a nice person, only pointing out that there is no solid proof that he indeed did what Giuffre said he did.
And why do I care? I care because anyone in the public eye, particularly if that person is wealthy, is at risk of this kind of accusation from pretty much anyone. Even if the accused is proven innocent, his reputation will probably remain permanently damaged.

For once, I don’t agree with you bixa. He’s had every chance to sort this out but has declined.

It's not a "non-article". Marina Hyde writes opinion pieces/commentary in the Guardian. She demolishes everyone she feels deserves it -- particularly the entitled idiots running the UK at the moment. Prince Andrew and his behaviour (lying, then making a large payoff) is right up there with all the others deserving of her scorn.

Yes, he appears to be exceptionally stupid, something amply demonstrated by his bad judgement. I simply object to "trial by media" in his case or any other.

The British have received details of just about every scrap of Andrew's life for the last 62 years so I'm sure they have all either condemned or acquitted him for his actions, and I doubt that the media will change anybody's mind.

I completely agree with your views Bixa - no-one should face trial by media and should have the opportunity to defend their case in court when necessary. But he has had every opportunity to defend his case in court but opted to use his wealth and privilege to avoid that.

So he will get trial by media. It’s unavoidable and self inflicted.

I knew I could count on you! no-one should face trial by media and should have the opportunity to defend their case in court when necessary. But he has had every opportunity to defend his case in court but opted to use his wealth and privilege to avoid that. Yeah, paying the accuser off never looks good. Who knows why -- presuming he is innocent -- he chose to do that. Could be because paying for lawyers and other forms of damage control would be even more expensive & certainly likely to drag on longer. Maybe his Family told him to fix it & fix it quick. If I had wealth & privilege, I'd be tempted to use it to make all kinds of stuff go away!

My concern has more to do with the misguided and abused young females who were entangled in the webs of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, rather than the privileged adult men who chose to fraternize with such lowlife degenerates as the pair. We’ll probably never know the extent of Andrew’s involvement, but certainly his close association with Epstein doesn’t appear to help his overall image.
