Half way from Vicenza (not far from Venice) towards Bergamo (or Milano) you come very close to the lake Garda. that lake looks like a penis but ok and Sirmione is like a nail pointing into it. Towards the tip of the nail is the town of Sirmione with a beautiful castle built in the XIII and used into Napoleon IV times to control the area.
we had been there in 2007 and when I saw the exit sign I exited.

Lake Garda on the right of the road. The castle. This entrance is disused but you clearly see the main door (pint Levis in French) and thé poterne (the small door ). Both could be made impassable by lifting the road to the tower. I just love that. a wall going into the sea. mid i were a poet I could find an image of our soul leaving firm ground to go into the unknown in an element that changes by the second. i am not a poet. I don’t know how you define the art of building fortifications in English. mon French it is called polyorcetique. the name in itself opens a door into imagination like this door opens inside the castle. no I am not a poet but I drank… There is a town around the castle, something I had totally forgotten since our trip in 2007. Very nice. A bit like Port Grimaud in France. but more authentic. Old buildings, old doors and nature reclaiming (some) territory. A bougainvillea ? what a trunk it had ! The lake from the left side of the road. it looks like on the right but I had turned around. (when I told you I was no poet but a drinker …) What a castle. There are some nice hotels. Same as everywhere. Once you walk 134 meters, you find quiet places.
