#116 is absolute brilliant. Art, yes. I'm never sure about these paste-on things, although I suppose the way they're used can elevate them into "graphic street art" level.

I suppose that these days with security cameras all over the place the artists just don't have time for detailed work. We get a lot of them in the city and I think most of them are printed off so that the artist doesn't lose the original.
We get a lot of 'tagging' which is basically just vandalism imo...the people doing it not really producing more than a hasty scrawl....the objective seems to just cover as many things as possible (difficult to get at places being the most desirable apparently). I wouldn't mind so much if the work was as beautiful as some of the images on this thread.

I think of it as a way not to be accused of vandalism since it can be removed easily.

By walking around my neighbourhood at time when a lot of places are closed, I have discovered more unsuspected art.

There is something particularly disturbing and paranoia-making about that last one. Hope it's not facing one of your windows!

Did the cow in 128 swallow a kitty-cat or do French cows really "miaou"?

No, a French cow generally says "meuh".

Oh -- love that brilliant use of the broken wall.
Thanks so much for that, Myrt. They are so teeny, yet pack such impact. I totally adore the shadows.
The wit is wonderful. The horrified Victorian girl fleeing the big sex workers -- priceless!

I really like the miniatures. I think paper art is a great idea since it doesn't get you into trouble -- but it is also too ephemeral.

Oooh, I've seen those last two! Glad to see they're still up. The other one is cool as well.
I find NYC is sadly lacking in graphic street art these days. I suppose there are pockets here and there if you know where to look, but it's not easy to stumble upon it like in Paris.

Those last two are about to disappear also, since they are on the walls around the demolition site.

This thread is well named -- graphic street art. That's some stupendous stuff you've shown, Kerouac and brilliant photos, as well. Here's more of a street doodle, but nice ~~

kerouac, is that stuff all up on rue de l'Ourcq? I'd love to bring some bike clients to wherever that stuff is.

Yes, DaCruz works mostly in the 19th arrondissement, and most of these items are along rue de l'Ourcq. The series with the lion and the elephants are all along the old "petite ceinture" railway line and begin at avenue Jean Jaurès.

A question indeed about these girls! And do they need umbrellas in Amman?
