Of course I am not taking into consideration the time that you have been asleep.
Was the longest period of not eating voluntary or involuntary?
What were the circumstances?

I'll start. I have been traveling or in transit for extremely long periods sometimes, but I don't think I have ever gone for 24 hours without at least having a piece of candy or some peanuts or something.
On the other hand, I have definitely sometimes gone more than 24 hours without having any sort of real meal, generally voluntarily (along the lines of "I'll eat when I finally get there, not before, damn it!").

well over 24 hours - involving surgery etc. needless to say, involuntary - and I was ready to eat my arm when they finally let me have ...are you ready for this?? - jello. and weak tea.

I had been sick with gastro-enteritis several years ago and ate nothing for around four days. In the next month I probably only ate the total equivelant of around 10 meals since very little would stay down so to speak. I can however choose to fast for 3 or 4 days at a time if I wish. After 8 hours without food I lose the hunger.

Without counting the times I was so sick I couldn't eat I tried dieting once. Made it through to day 4 without any food, just water. Didn't help. Never tried it again.

In Thailand I ate an enormous number of chillis (12 from my daughter's plate on top of my own very hot green chicken curry). I really suffered after that and ate nothing for 36 hours. Then I had a Coke - and even that was too much.

One of the times I was sick was Christmas 2006 in Siem Reap. I had gone drinking sugar palm toddy in the morning and was planning on a Christmas dinner of carre d'agneau at Barrio Restaurant. Patrick the owner even had flown in oysters. Well, turns out the containers we were drinking out of were dirty and I came down with amoebic dysentery right after finishing the lamb that evening. I thought I was going to die, in fact I wanted to. I fell asleep onthe toilet bowl, no further details necessary...

A couple of days I suppose when I have been ill. I get very angry and irrational when I am hungry. Sometimes I don't realise I am hungry until I have snapped at someone who knows me well and they remind me to eat. My brother is the same and my Dad and his sister. My mum says she lived in fear of any of us getting hungry and ermanently had fruit in every pocket Every time we get on a plane Mr Star laughs at me remembering the time I raged like a madwoman for 2 hours when we had nearly missed our plane so hadn't eaten since we woke up as so rushed and when the drinks/food trolley got to us they had run out of sandwiches. Apparently I was like this:

spindrift I do still eat chicken at times but I really hate touching it when raw.
Tilly I can get like that too. I rarely eat chocolate but one day years back I was ready to kill for the chocolate bar MrChoc wouldn't let me take a bite of. Must have been PMS.
