That was fun!
It's interesting how many stars did not change their names -- using a normal nickname (Cece for Cecelia, for instance) or not using the middle name is not the same as changing ones name.
Also, even if you didn't know anything about the performers, you can kind of guess the era by the type of new name chosen: Patti Page is so very fifties; Ringo Starr so early 60s, as are all the blandly Anglo last names then -- Johnny Rivers, etc. Later, the name changing got less solemn and more fun.
A few original names seem better than the stage names -- Sade's for instance. And I was rather crushed to find that not a single Ramone was originally a Ramone. I am thrilled to finally know Sam the Sham's real name!
