We don't need to be too excessively honest or thorough.
Here's another thing I like about Anyport and you, bixa: if I'd posted that driving thing on some other boards there would have been a series of appalled scoldings about my dangerous irresponsible actions.

Oh. Yeah. That. How terrible, Lola! For shame! Driving is a privilege! is that enough?Remember where I live. I used to be mocked because I couldn't bring myself to run red lights on Sundays when, "everyone knows there's no traffic".

I can't knit to save my life , my grandmother tried, my mother tried, teachers tried, I guess I was just not meant to be a knitter. I used to sew and also have an old singer that my mother got for her 21st birthday, she is 71 this year, so that makes it 50 years old, but I have not had the time or inclination to sew. Maybe onceI finish work next week I will start sewing again.

Ha! That's me, except with my eyes on the road and a tad more covered. If only you'd been there to add the flute part.

Huh! She's ruining my reputation as a Very Serious Person. I can do all of that handwork except for tatting and macrame, but .... Oh yeah, can't sew either, for lack of bothering to learn how. As I was furiously knitting once, it occurred to me, "I'm sitting here like a fool, using two sticks to make fabric. You can buy fabric." Yes, I am aware that this is the wrong attitude and truly love beautiful handwork -- as long as it's not made by my hands.

I have seen just about all of the knitting supply stores in Paris close in the years since I've lived here. (And I had become a knitting store specialist because I would have to go and get stuff for my grandmother in her isolated retirement home.)
