I thought I'd never had that, but it is l'argousier in French. Funny how people who speak more than one language know some words in one and not in the others. Sanddorn in German? Evidently it is very nutritious.

A lovely red called Diablo. From Chile....after three glasses its hard to remember especially after decanting it into another bottle with a screw top and another name. Oh these darn corks!

I had a Dry Rieseling from .... Canada ! Niagara region. Very good with something getting close to a vin de paille. But the one I got my hand hands was from 2003... had time to mature.
Disn't know canadians grew wine (honest, no pun intended).

Yes, the Niagara region is a warm microclimate, protected from harsh winter weather by the Niagara escarpment. Wine is grown there, on Pelée Island in Lake Erie and in British Columbia. Now good wine can be grown in certain pockets on the northern shore of Lake Ontario, due to climate change. Of course vintners in Québec try to grow wine grapes, but it will take a couple of degrees more for it to be good.

Oh holy cow - you can have mine too. I really don't like it.
Tonight my aperitif was a triple dose of Dry Martini Vermouth with an ice block made of my pure squeezed lemon juice. Now a dry red with dinner.

Mostly tap water. I cut my alcohol consumption a lot and try to reduce my coke cobsumption. So water it is.

I think most of us don't mention tap water as often as we drink it as most of us live in countries where we can take clean, safe drinking water for granted, except for some unfortunate exceptions: I think of some First Nations reserves in Canada, Flint Michigan etc.
I was thinking about this as I ran into a woman who I know because she used to work in a local natural foods shop. I had bought a bottle of Borsec, a Romanian mineral water I really like, and she went into a rant about how the calcium and magnesium in that type of water was like tiny stones that would eat away at my blood vessels (!) and I said I usually drank plain tap water, second rant about the evils of tap water (our tap water is rated as very good, and usually good-tasting). I'm very much in favour of healthful and natural foods, but a certian type of entusiast gets my (nanny) goat.
Clean tap water is one of the great achievements of modern life.
