Leffe is one of my favorites. I visited the abbey not long ago. Right now I had a Rochefort. A brown beer. Than a Corsican wine.

I'm having a Sapphire martini with a small twist of orange zest to go with this cool, damp, overcast afternoon. Life is good.

A glass of Gigondas.
I like to pronounce it the Flemish way, the g being close to sh
So it gives sheeshondass (but more guttural)

I had a really excellent yellow fiery Thei curry for dinner and only wanted water with it. I'm having some wine now that the fire has died.

And hello to you! Very nice to see you here. I would raise my glass to you, but it's only early afternoon here, so will just toast you with my coffee cup. Hope life has been treating you well.

This is not actually in my glass, because I lapped it down all too quickly. Anyway ~~ I woke up to rain this morning & it rained all day long. In an attempt to entertain myself, I was forced to resort to housework, something I only do to remain an acceptable human being. Finally, at dusk, the rain let up. The dogs & I went for a long walk. I came home and realized it was easily cocktail o'clock, Because I have barely a splash of Hendrick's left, but also know that there is some on the way due to my pouncing on a deep discount offer, I thought I should avail myself of a heftier than usual evening drink. Thus I made myself something I dubbed "The Kon-Tiki" ~ three ounces (!) of Hendrick's + an ounce of Cinzano extra dry + @3/4 ounce water shaken with many mini ice cubes. Poured that into a chilled martini glass, then dropped in two anchovy stuffed olives and floated in a raft of 5 tiny cucumber spears on a toothpick. Added some mini cubes and enjoyed the heck out of it.

To celebrate this new very cool month in Paris, I made an excellent caïpiriha.

I just had a nice little martini with Bombay Sapphire, Cinzano Extra Dry, & one pimento-stuffed olive. This was to recover from having gone to Costco and because I'm having lunch at an odd time on a rainy day & thought the martini was called for.

Celebrating a quiet late Sunday afternoon with a martini of my favorite Thomas Dakin with three(!) anchovy-stuffed olives. Life on the edge.

White wine in a glass full of ice cubes is excellent when the temperature is above 33°.

I tried some more of my Romanian brandy this evening. I am not a big coffee drinker, but to go with it, I made some coffee using this item that I brought back from Saigon. I found it very good.

There is now nothing in my glass, as I'm still chewing the two olives that were in my GinRaw martini that I finished as I clicked into this thread.
Kerouac, had you tried the product while in Vietnam? I have to say, if one needs to use an instant coffee, Nescafé's offerings are usually the safest bets. How was the brandy?

Kerouac, had you tried the product while in Vietnam? How was the brandy? I did not try the Vietnamese Nescafé while still in Vietnam, but I knew that Vietnamese coffee is excellent and also that Nescafé is very careful to make its products for local tastes in every single country. This was a blend of both Arabica and Robusta. The Romanian brandy was quite good, and the price from the store in the suburbs was also very good, so I'll go back for more when necessary. The only place where I know I can get as good a deal is in Luxembourg, and I don't know when I'll be back there.

This beer is called corne (Horn) And you drink it from a horn too fast… too much foam but got alright in the end.

I'm a bit more concerned about the le bois des pendus than le corne. Reminds me of that creepy Japanese forest near Mt. Fuji in Japan.

I know I'm missing something and am completely at sea about Fumobici's comment. Fumo was referring to the fact that the ' bois des pendus' means ' the woods of the hanged people' and the famous suicide woods in Japan where that YouTuber what's-his-name got in hot water for filming and has now become a MMA fighter.
